Fall Asleep at Work

IMG_7496

What’s causing you to be sleepy? This afternoon I was working in the studio on a new song. I was laying down a rough version of the drum track and programming bass sounds on the Minimoog Voyager. I caught the studio technician, Mr. Bowie, sleeping on the job. So what’s wrong here? Do I have to pump up the bass, speed up the tempo, increase the volume level above maximum or learn how to write a really good song?

Falling asleep on the job can risk your employment, Mr. Bowie. Okay, maybe he was taking a power nap. Sleeping just 20 minutes helps activate the right hemisphere of the brain, which is responsible for processing and storing acquired information. I think I need a nap too…

  1. Yea, you can’t blame a guy if it’s just a power nap that will actually make him a better employee later, right? Besides, he looks so cute in his basket. 🙂 Make good music, Herman!

  2. He wasn’t really sleeping. He was kitty multi-tasking — power napping while listening to and analyzing your tracks with a clear mind to make sure you got them right.

    • It would be like ‘Hotel California’, checking out any time you like, but you just can never leave…!! 😉

  4. Power naps are great…..any good studio assistant who wants to be ready to assist should be WELL rested! At least he’s right there at your feet…..ready if you need him!

  5. A basket to a cat is like chocolat to you-know-who. So who placed the temptation? Anyway musicians keep weird hours and must sleep when they can, no?

  6. I believe that it was rather a cat meditation Mr. Bowie needed to do. You HAVE to google ” The diary of sad cat’s” and ” A cat’s guide to taking care of your Human”. You tube videos. It’s really funny how cats think, not sad at all. It’s really educational for us as “their authorities”.

  7. I’d like a cuddle basket like that to curl up in. Mine would have speakers in it to listen to some great new iTunes I downloaded for this holiday. I got George Ezra, ‘Budapest’. Edward Sharpe And The Magnetic Zero’s, ‘Home’ and Phox, ‘1936’ on heavy replay. Whatcha’ writing about Herman? x B

    • I like George Ezra too, don’t know Edward Sharpe but I’ll check him out.
      Working on a electro-pop-song I guess, sounds a bit strange, though…
