Farewell, My Dear Sister

Goodnight, sweet princess. It is with great sadness that I have to announce the passing of my dear Sister. Hild passed away over the weekend after bravely battling a vicious disease. She was a much loved person and she will be deeply missed by my Father, her husband, her son, her grandchild, family members and close friends.

I will never forget our moments together, enjoying espressos before noon. Mr. Bowie loved her company too and never left her side. But now you are far away, far away and so close. I wish I could find comfort in the thought she’s in good company with our Mother and Brother. I miss you so much.

It’s so hard to believe in anything anymore. How can you take religion seriously? Life sucks big time. Cancer is a bitch.

Let us go now, my darling companion
Set out for the distant skies
See the sun, see it rising
See it rising, rising in your eyes

“Distant Sky” – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds

Slaap nu maar zacht en zonder pijn, lieve Hild. Ik zal mijn dappere zus, espresso maatje, luisterend oor en soulmate hard missen. Je zal voor altijd in onze gedachten blijven.

Kanker is een smeerlap.

Rain Rain Rain

Rain smashing hard against the window. Mr. Bowie cancelled his field trip in the garden due to heavy rain. By way of precaution, he crawled for shelter under the table.

I enjoy the sound of rain on the windows and the roof. I have become a very light sleeper, completely off sleep medication for about a month and the sound of rain helps me fall asleep at night.

Sleep Sleep Sleep

Question. Is it ok to take a little human back home when they are disrespecting Mr. Bowie’s rules? He doesn’t want to play anymore, kiddo. All Mr. Bowie wants to do is sleep sleep sleep…

Oh Spring…

Snow began falling last Saturday and Sunday. Just when I thought I was out (of the cold), they pull me back in! Having a few emergency supplies on-hand can save you a lot of discomfort and trouble when a winter storm hits. You should have enough supplies, especially coffee and chocolate, to survive without leaving your house for a few days. Oh spring, I long for you…

A Good Friend

So many books, so many friends. I always like to have a good book around to read, it’s like having a good friend. Mark Twain said, “Good friends, good books, and a sleepy conscience: this is the ideal life.” Ernest Hemingway said, “There is no friend as loyal as a book.” I can only confirm that they were both right.
One of many reasons why I consider myself lucky is because I have another good and loyal furry friend. Are you waiting for a bedtime story, Mr. Bowie?

Go Wild!

Let your imagination go wild! Okay, I still have a pretty active imagination, but it is nothing like the imagination of Mr. Bowie. This card from Sharon is an awesome way to stimulate our imagination. Mr. Bowie is intrigued by the bird and the catnip plant. I got my eyes fixed on the snare drum. Let your imagination run wild, my friends.

Hibernation

Dangerous cold, snow, sleet and rain today. No Mr. Bowie, we can’t go outside. It’s even for a furry four-footer way too dangerous. How can I mentally survive winter? Do people really love winter that much? Can humans survive hibernation in good condition? Hmmm. I guess I’ll stick with espresso.
