Greetings, planet Earth. We come in peace!
First, let me tell you I’m ok and Jimi is ok. I know it has been quiet on this blog, very quiet. There were some minor health issues and I got infected with Covid-19 early December. I lost my taste and smell for almost 6 weeks so I couldn’t enjoy my espressos and chocolate. What a bummer…
I’m glad we’re heading to spring and we can enjoy the days getting longer. So I won’t start complaining about the 2 days with snow so far… Knock on wood and keep fingers and paws crossed!
A few days ago Jimi received a surprise package from Christine, a dear friend living in Saint Paul, Minneapolis (US of A). Christine is a long time follower of the blog from the early days.
Immediately, Jimi picked the purple ball and it’s still his favourite toy. I loved the Kitty Stardust poster that Christine added to pay tribute to Mr. Bowie. Thank you so much, Christine.
There’s still a lot of misery in the world. And a lot of bad and dramatic things are happening everywhere. So please, try to make this world a better place. Enjoy the little things in your life if possible. Life is too short to be sad or angry.

The world is full of challenges right now, and the poor Ukrainians are suffering, and so needlessly because one man just needs to flex his muscles (and ego). Yes, the ST transporter device… it’s still not working after I bought it on eBay. I’m still waiting for parts to fix it. But nowadays it’s very difficult to get spare computer parts…

So good to hear from you Herman but so sorry you had to deal with Covid – you know what they say though – “you can’t keep a good man down” and I’m glad you re feeling better. Nurse Jimi probably kept a close eye on you! What a lovely gift for him from your friend Christine – so very nice and what a bunch of fun things for him to play with. As for the state of the world – there will always be pockets of mankind who are kind, loving, and caring and I truly hope and pray they will take over the world one day – soon!

First I was mad when I got infected because, just like you, I was the only person in my environment who didn’t get sick or infected with Covid for 3 years. I had to stay in bed for 4 days and lost my smell and taste. Thank goodness I’m completely ok right now…

My day just got brighter for a visit with my Belgium boys 💗 What a fabulous treasure trove of goodies you received from Christine! I especially think Kitty Stardust is awesome. How weird not to taste or smell anything for weeks! Glad you’re feeling back to normal Herman. My SIL has what they’re calling, ‘long haul’ Covid, and it’s a nasty cup of tea. There seems to be no rhythm nor reason to who will be affected this way. Luck of the draw it seems. I’m looking forward to spring more than ever. Each winter seems less enjoyable than the last. I guess really, I’m the problem 😏 The good Canadians are out there frolicking in and celebrating each new snow fall with their snowboards, ski’s and skates. Shocking facts…
A significant part died later after vaccination were available because they bought into the right-wing bull about not getting vaccinated. One of my friends was one of those idiots. Sadly, she also was a registered nurse with extensive post graduate credentials.
So sad… such a shame…
When I first learned how she died, my unfiltered response to the friends who told me what she died of was, “…that stupid cow!” I apologized, of course, and didn’t mean to disrespect her, but it was foolish of an educated, very community-oriented person to die for a reason she could have prevented. Where I live (but not I!), three-fourths of the people who voted for Donald Trump. She was one of those people.

The weather has been a bit erratic here. After a brief warm front, there was sleet and lightning, and then 3 inches of snow. Then it cleared and the cold weather hit. It was 21 degrees Fahrenheit at sunrise this morning, and is in the mid 40s this afternoon. I will get my walk in and look for the tiny red hazelnut flowers.

We had a little tease of spring for about a week, but now we’re back to winter, tho ours hasn’t been too bad either. Yes, longer days, that alone is a good sign. Jimi’s ready for more good garden time too. Enjoy each day and chocolate and espresso with good senses returned.
