Side Effect

Leave me alone. Attending the Veterinary Hospital once or twice a week created a funny side effect on Mr. Bowie. Recently, he seems to prefer laying and sleeping in his carrier box.

But it’s a shame his healing process feels so slow. However, the latest results showed he’s moving in the right direction. Hang in there my friend, everyone loves you.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Oh Mr. Bowie…..maybe your eye medication is making you sleepy? If you’re heading to the vet a couple of times a week you might be thinking “I may as well STAY in my carrier since I go so often!!!!”……..seriously though I hope everything continues to get better and better for you!!! You are definitely LOVED!

    Hugs, Teddy (and Mom too!)

  2. He’ll go back to normal when he’s…back to normal. Yes, Mr. Bowie, know that people all over who have never met you love you anyway! Cos Herman keeps us up to date. Do you know there’s an ocean and people across it who know all about you? Heal well.

  3. It’s not unusual for the cats to enjoy their carrier devices even while not travelling. The cat from my previous rental flat also loved to occupy luggage bags of any kind:

My best wishes to mister Bowie

    • Thank you so much, my friend! Cats are very mysterious creatures and they keep surprising us…
      Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  4. Mr. B., we are so sorry your healing is taking so long. We know you must be tired of the vet visits. Sometimes sleeping in the PTU can be very comforting, just like sleeping in a box. We do love you and pray that your full recovery will happen very soon. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    • Thank you very much for your kind and heartwarming comment, my dear friends!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  5. “Leave me be Sam I am” unless you have green catnip and ham. That’s funny he likes the carrier. I just have to bring a carrier in the house and the cats scatter. I bring in a carrier and let it sit on the floor for 24 hours before taking kitties to the vet. If I bring it in right before time to leave for the vet, they all hide, I have to find the kitty that’s going to the vet, and I often end up being late for the appointment.

    • Hi Tim. Your story reminds me of my previous cat, Mrs. Jones. I had to hide the carrier in another room. If she saw the carrier she would run away for days… Not kidding!
Thank goodness Mr. B loves the car rides too…

      • I often take two cats to the vet at the same time to so I only have to pay for one office call, and I get stereo meowing, yeowing, and kitty moaning all the way to and from the vet.

  6. Poor Mr Bowie. It’s sad when you have to call your carrier box home! Seriously though, we’re all thinking about you and hope you’re better soon. Herman it all must be quite stressful for you as well. Hang in there.

    • Thank you so much for your concern and your kind comment. Jill! You are so right, it’s really so stressful. Thank goodness I got lots of espressos and dark chocolate in my kitchen… 😉
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

    • Let’s hope next Monday we will get good results… But I wish the healing would go a bit faster.
      Have a nice weekend, Bernadette!

  7. Everyone does love you Mr. Bowie! I’m so glad to hear you’re getting better even if it is slow. And I know just how you feel. Lots of days I too just want to hide in my carrier.

      Have a nice weekend!

  9. Long as Mr. Bowie is moving in the right direction, that is all that matters.

Miss Egypt used to nap in the cat carrier frequently. She had a carry box when she needed to visit the vet, while everyone else had to travel in the carrier. Being a good traveler, I was able to remove the lid and let Miss Egypt “see” whenever she traveled. 🙂

    • Thank goodness Mr. Bowie is moving in the right direction but I wish it all would go a bit faster, though…
Cats always keep surprising and fascinating us for sure. I really wish I could see what’s going on in their minds…

      Have a nice weekend, David!

    • Thank you so much for your kind and heartwarming comment, my dear friend!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  10. Sigh. Healing. It is just not on our timetable, is it. The main thing is the trend in the right direction. At which news Mr. Bugs, Mr. Barney, and I totally rejoice. In fact, I think I’ll award everybody (except me) a liver treat. (Me gag at liver treat.) I’ve already had my coffee, so that’s it for the human.

Plus, I think you have an interesting marketing idea. I see a modular kitty-crate accommodating cat plus human in ordinary circumstances, breaking down to cat-only when human needs to transport cat to vet. Calling IKEA. You could be a millionaire.

    • Haha… we definitely need to talk to IKEA…
I’m so glad that Mr. B finally seems to be moving in the right direction, though it takes so long.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to all of you!

Have a nice weekend, my friend!

  11. Oh and by the way. Have you seen “Hotel Beau Sejour”? Good lord, you Belgians! Dark dark dark!! But I was fascinated to peek into a corner of your country . . . . Plus by the way, movies and Belgium remind me of “In Bruges.” I am seeing a trip over the ocean in my distant future, if I have one, and, if so, Belgium is definitely on the radar!

    • Feel free to pay Mr. Bowie a visit…

I haven’t seen Hotel Beau Sejour. Shame on me. It was a big hit overhere although it received mixed reviews. I will check it out for sure on the local Video on Demand channel.

  12. Gibbs thinks Bowie is pretty courageous for sleeping in the box. He prefers to stand guard and send out a vocal warning to all who will listen.

I continue to think healing thoughts for Mr. Bowie and hope he continues on the right path to good health. Sending kitty purrs and love from the kids and I.

  13. Dearest Mr. Bowie, I told Moshu, my cat, about your conditions and she is sending you the most softest paw-hugs, telling you: ” Just hang in there, there is light in the kennel, even you can see it with your eyes right now. I have just three legs and I am dealing with it. And the end of the kennel there is always ice cream waiting for you to lick your heart out”. Moshu’s loving thoughts for Mr. Bowie

    • Hi Cornelia! Thank you so much for your heartwarming comment and the advice from Moshu!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

Have a nice weekend, my dear friend!

    • Thank you so much, Julie! I’m very lucky Mr. Bowie loves to go in his cat cage. And he even loves the car rides too…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

      Have a nice weekend, Julie!

  14. My kitty boys and I have been concerned about Mr. Bowie. Dougy says “meow”, which (from the inflection) means “I went through that eye infection business and I hated the treatment.” He came through it, though, and is happy to know Mr. Bowie is showing improvement!

As for sleeping in his carrier, I leave the carriers out for the kitty boys in case they need a nap where they won’t be bothered. The idea was this would help them become more comfortable with the carrier when I had to take them somewhere. Andy is cool about carriers now, but Dougy is a whiner. I’m glad the longest trip they have to take (to their veterinarian) is four blocks!

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend! I’m glad the cat carrier isn’t a problem for Mr. Bowie. The car rides take about 20 minutes but Mr. B loves it in the car.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to you all!

      Have a nice weekend!

    • Thank you very much, my dear friend! Keeping our fingers and paws crossed!
Hope you’re having a marvellous weekend!

    • Thank you so much, my dear Christine!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

    • Thank you very much for your kind comment, Terre! I’m so thankful for the support from all over the world.

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

      • 🙂 I don’t know how cats think, but to me, since he has taken to sleeping in his carrier, it appears that he is not being traumatized by having to go to the vet. I know my cat was traumatized when I had to take her in so often. Could also be that he knows he is getting better and that the vet is helping so he is ok with being in the carrier.

  15. Mr. Bowie, we are so sorry to hear that you are still having problems with your eye. We are so sorry that we haven’t been around much lately. This is Mom’s busy season at work and she comes home kind of cranky. MOL!!! However, please know that all of us are saying prayers for you. We hope you’ll be back to your lovable self real soon! We all love you!
    Stereo purrs………Hemingway and Steinbeck
    Hugs…….Pam

    • Thank you so much for your concern and your heartwarming comment, my dear Hemingway, Steinbeck and Pam!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

And thank you very much for nominating HoB for the Blogger Recognition Award. Much appreciated!

  16. Hello my sweet little Belgium friend. I’ve learned you’ve been to the vet and recovering from surgery. This is the best news I’ve heard all week. Why such a sweet kitty like you has to endure this, it’s rotten. I’m sending any extra Good-Karma I’ve banked up to you. Thank goodness your dad is the best guy ever and will go to the end of the earth for you. Pulling for all things good to come your way xo K

    • Hi there, my dear Boomdee! Thank you so much for your hartwarming comment and support. This really means a lot to me. So happy you keep coming back after all these years. Much appreciated!
Hope you’re having a marvellous weekend!

  17. My cats tend to seek out a secure place when feeling under the weather, often the carrier. I think that being able to totally relax in security allows the deep sleep that heals and they instinctively know that.

    • I guess you are right. Angela. Since Mr. Bowie is having his eye problem he prefers the carrier for his naps and sleep periods.
