In the Sick Bay

Wounded eye of the tiger. Lately, Mr. Bowie has had bad luck, health-wise. I took Mr. Bowie last week two times to Venhei, a Veterinary Hospital. An injury of his lower eyelid got infected and Mr. Bowie became very, very sick. The vet disinfected the wound and Mr. Bowie received acute treatment and proper medication. I need to put a thin line of ointment in his eye, 3 times a day. Thank goodness he is feeling much better right now. Get well soon, my furry friend! Don’t worry, I will look after your catnip plants…

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

Eight

Mr. Bowie turns eight today. I don’t remember much about my eighth birthday or any of my birthdays of the past, really. But hey, it’s not about me, it’s about our little big hero, Mr. Bowie.

My Dad took his bike, went for a ride and surprised us with a visit. We had espressos and chocolate. Happy Birthday Mr. Bowie! Catnip and treats for the furry ones.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

Flashback #16

The guardian angel. A few months ago, I heard a hard bang against the window and I found a stunned bird outside. Apparently, a sparrow flew straight into the window of my house. Mr. Bowie, a natural born ornithologist, was outside and checked if the little one was okay. It reminded me of a similar story years ago. I placed the bird in a box so he could reboot in peace and quiet. I kept a watchful eye to make sure no potential predator (the neighbour’s cat) swoop in for a quick lunch. After 5 minutes the sparrow was recovered and flew away safely.

No animals (sparrows or cats) were harmed, killed or eaten during the shooting of these photographs.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

The Oldest and the Youngest

Life goes on… and on. A week after my sister passed away, my father turned 92. It was a very strange day. We had a small celebration with chocolates, cookies and coffee. It all happened in a serene and depressed atmosphere.

A few days later some local officials, dressed in traditional folkloric costumes, payed tribute to my Dad because he’s one of the oldest inhabitants of the village. This is a regular annual tradition. Many happy returns!

Thank you so very much for your help, kindness, compassion and sympathy at one of the most difficult times of our lives.

A Horse with No Name

I’ve been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
Cause there ain’t no one for to give you no pain

Rain Rain Rain

Rain smashing hard against the window. Mr. Bowie cancelled his field trip in the garden due to heavy rain. By way of precaution, he crawled for shelter under the table.

I enjoy the sound of rain on the windows and the roof. I have become a very light sleeper, completely off sleep medication for about a month and the sound of rain helps me fall asleep at night.
