Watching movies. Life of Pi had escaped my attention at the time. I don’t know why. The dvd went on sale last week so I bought it. I’ve already seen the movie twice. So beautiful. So touching. It made me cry.
As always, Mr. Bowie fell asleep watching the movie. Twice.
“I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.” – Pi Patel
Well, I suppose it’s tiring for a little cat too watch a big cat for a long time.
Maybe Mr. Bowie was jealous because I was attracted to a bigger cat?
Definitely a possibility 😉
READ THE BOOK!!! I promise you, it’s even BETTER (even though the movie was absolutely stunning).
I’m going to order the book. Thanks for the advice, Clem.
Enjoy!!
I would have thought he would want to watch that big cat. Maybe it was just really nap time for him, and you know naps are serious cat business.
… and the other important thing is food. It’s like dark chocolate and espressos for me, I guess…
Oh yea, there are some things that are really necessities. You should have some of each now, in fact!
Going to the kitchen as we speak… 😉
Herman, you have a tender heart. I LOVED the movie! The cinematography was fabulous and the story even better. I though I was going to be bored when I went to the theatre but the opposite was true.
Hi Mary J. My first thought was, “A movie about a boy and a tiger on a lifeboat? Yeah right…” But I was blown away by the beauty of the story, and I liked the humor too.
I know, I went to the theater thinking I was going to be bored and ended up very pleasantly surprised.
Definitely going to get the movie 🙂 Even though Bowie couldn’t get through it. have you seen The Namesake? Now there’s a movie that had me up all night sobbing (my grown son sobbing as well). It’s kind of long, but the characters sneak up and steal your heart.
Thank you for mentioning The Namesake, it was new for me. I checked it out on Imdb and going to see if I can find it on our local Movie Channel…
I loved that movie! I’m reading the book now. Middlemay Farm mentioned The Namesake…I actually have that one and haven’t watched it…now I will!
Hoping to find The Namesake on the local Movie Channel. Otherwise, I’m going to watch Life of Pi again…
I didn’t make it past the shipwreck and crying, drowning animals. I left the theatre sobbing uncontrollably. I loved many of the images in the trailer, but….couldn’t do it.
Oh no, Boomdee, my poor girl… But you missed a lot of ‘feel good’ moments too…
I left Mr B there in the dark cinema He did say that was the worst part, but it was too late. I was already going thru tissues like a sponge. I wandered thru a bookstore with bloodshot eyes instead….what a fun date night, LOL. I also missed the end of King Kong (with Naomi Watts), because I knew what was coming and started to leak….Mr B is used to it.
Sorry, my dear Boomdee, but your comment is so funny…
A movie so beautiful it took ones breath away at times!! Definitely worth a couple of watches. Virginia
Hi Virginia. Can I watch it for the third time…??
I’m with you on that one dear Mr Bowie. I would be more than happy to scratch behind your furry ears and watch Life of Pi for a third time. When ever I watch a move for the second or third time I always see something I have previously missed. Virginia
It made me cry too but I agree with Irrelevant – the book is even better!
The book is on my list. Wondering if it’s going to make me cry too…
Just a gorgeous movie, and fantastic acting since a lot of it was done before a green screen. Guess Mr. Bowie was not impressed with Richard Parker.
Not at all! I fell asleep twice…
Letting go always hurts a little….:-)
It even hurts when my dad goes to work each morning…
Herman! – you got the focus wrong! [grin]
You’re so right! There must be something wrong with the camera (or the photographer)…
Fer crissake don’t let You Know Who see it, OK?
I’m off to bed; 9:30 and I’m so tired I could drop.
Loved the movie, captured my heart, The book is wonderful too only I have not finished it yet, I need more time…… my mother finished before me, she has time.
I’m going to buy the book (and watch the movie a third time…).
I’ve missed you, Mr. Bowie. Nice to see your sweet furry face again. PK
Hi PK! Glad to see you’re back. We missed you too…

CATS ARE SO PHILOSOPHICAL…THEY DON’T NEED TO WATCH UNTIL THE END!!!! 🙂
SO THIS WAS the movie about the boy and a tiger in a lifeboat????? I guess he fared better than that ole Lady from Niger…huh? 🙂
Be careful! Never underestimate a tiger…
Especially from Niger!!!! 🙂
indeed a great movie…but tiger Richard Parker was next to drowning during shoots
have a good year starting week…:-)))
Hi there Ginnietom. Welcome on HoB and thanks for following. Much appreciated!
You are right, animals in movies… it is always an emotive issue.
I loved that movie.
Me too, but I don’t know about Mr. Bowie, though…
Am I the only one who thought the movie wasn’t that great? 😮 Sure, the visuals are great and stuff, but the story, the boy Pi. I was headdesking the couch many, many times!
Come one Dianda, please, give it a second thought… 😉
The movie is full of symbolism. It made me feel so good…
I probably missed out on all the symbolism! 😦
I did love the tiger tho.
