Sunday Snowday

Snow! The horror… the horror! This morning, a cold snap resulted in several disruptions on the roads and rail way networks in this part of the world. I had to drive through the snow to see if my Dad was alright. We had lunch together and watched Bear Grylls on tv. I picked up some good advice to get back home safe.

Meanwhile, Mr. Bowie’s wondering what the white stuff is doing in his garden. And why he has to stay inside…

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. We had our first snow here too! It’s already melting but it was pretty while it was here……glad you visited your Dad and had no problems getting back home to Mr. Bowie. Teddy was fascinated by seeing his first snowfall…..! Stay safe and warm.

    Pam

    • Hi Pam! Hope you’re having a wonderful warm Sunday! I remember Mr. Bowie seeing his first snow and how he loved his first steps outside…

      • Herman we just got back from a drive in the country – stopped for a pumpkin spice latte’ and chocolate croissant on the way……it’s a beautiful day – cold and sunny and I’m going to TRY to see if Teddy wants to give snow another chance! Take care………… ❤

  2. Looks cold. Happy to hear everyone is safe. It’s cold here, but sunny and dry. Friday morning it was so cold our water lines were frozen. Fortunately, the water to my darkroom wasn’t frozen, so I was able to make coffee. Could you image waking up with no water and no way to make coffee? We have a private well, and a portion of the water line under the house is exposed, so it’s had heat tape and insulation on it that has worked well for the past 34 years. I figured the heat tape gave out. I crawled under the house to check in out and discovered Spunk and company had been clawing in the pipe insulation (dense foam which Spunk loves to tear up), and exposed sections of the pipe. The heat tape can’t heat the pipe well enough without the insulation. I spend most of Friday under the house, on my belly, in the dirt replacing insulation and making it so the cats can’t claw it off. Needless to say, the kitties were very exited to have me “playing” under the house with them.

    • “…waking up with no water and no way to make coffee…” this sounds like the end of the world!?! Glad you were able to fix the frozen water lines problem.
I can picture the scene of you and the cat crew under the house. I’m sure you all had a lot of fun out there. It sounds like I have the same kind of insulation around my water pipes but Mr. Bowie leaves them alone.

Hope you enjoyed your coffee this Sunday morning. Have a nice day, Tim!

  3. You have snow, rain here. Something is very wrong with the weather. You have a swedish car, I noticed, it is made for winter driving.
Kosmo: Stay inside, my friend Mr. Bowie, that white stuff is like ice cream in your paws, but not tasty, just cold.

    • It just started to rain very hard right now. Thank goodness the snow will be gone soon… Just for the record, I prefer driving my Swedish car around in the summer! 😉
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Kosmo!

    • Hi Sarah! I fully agree about this time of year. Thank goodness it started to rain so the snow will be gone very soon…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  4. I realise snowfalls can be hazardous, but it does look pretty. I’m glad your Dad is OK and that Mr Bowie is keeping snug and warm inside, until he is fully healed. 🙂
Maybe Not ice cream today . . . how about a Hot Chocolate? 😀

  5. We had our first snow here the first of November. Diavolo seems to enjoy it but it’s not long till he’s back curled up warm.

    Stay warm Mr. Bowie…Herman, too!

    • Hi Misha! Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!
I had a feeling Mr. Bowie was angry because he had to stay inside today. Well, maybe we’ll have some more snow later this winter…

    • Hi Lavinia! We stayed inside the rest of the day. This evening it started to rain very hard so I guess the snow will be gone by tomorrow morning. Thank goodness!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to the Cat Crew!

  6. That’s quite a mess you got there Herman. Hope you don’t have to drive in it any more and that it melts away soon. It’s actually pretty if you can stay inside and look out. 🙂 Be well; hot espresso and chocolate are the remedies for winter blues. And fuzzy warm cats!

    • Hi there, my dear friend. We fully agree with your remedies for winter blues and snow. We stayed inside the rest of the day. Thank goodness it started to rain this evening so I guess the snow will be gone tomorrow morning…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  7. Yesterday I woke up to the same shock. From your photo I would say we got about the same amount. Nonetheless I bundled up and went to my Saturday of volunteering help at the thrift shop which supports animal rescue (especially cats). We had very few customers because it continued to snow most of the day but as a result we we able to rearrange things in our tiny shop to showcase the Christmas things and indeed that was what we sold. Driving home was not so bad since there had been enough people out to clear the roads and the snow had stopped. Today is sunny but still pretty cold. My cats have no desire to be anywhere but in their warm beds and blankets and Miss Dolly is the only one not sleeping right now. She says to tell Mr. Bowie “Hello”

    • Hi Angela! Respect! That is so beautiful you went to work at the thrift shop while having such bad weather. Glad you got home safe afterwards.
It started to rain this evening and it looks like the snow will be gone by tomorrow morning. Thank goodness!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Miss Dolly and the rest of the cat crew!

      • Herman, my father’s family is French Canadian. I was raised to deal with serious snow. My only concern in snowy weather is the driver’s not raised to it

  8. Sunday Snowday just means staying inside, wrapped in fleece and treats at hand. Best advice for driving in snow – stay away from other drivers. 🙂

    Stay warm.

    • Hi David! Thank you so much for your comment full of wisdom and advice. We fully agree! We stayed inside the rest of the day, had coffee, chocolate and cat treats.

Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  9. Oh you have got plenty of snow today! It was snowing here too, first time this winter. I think Mr. Bowie remembers the white stuff and knows why he has to stay inside for his own good 🙂

    • Hi Inese! Thank goodness it started to rain. With a little luck all the snow will be gone by tomorrow. We still got a long (and cold) way to go until summer… 😦

Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

  10. You had to watch Bear Grylls to make it home safely? 😉 That little bit of snow is nothing around here, Herman. Piece of cake to drive in…

Have you tried to let Bowie out in the snow? You might be surprised by his response.

  11. How nice to have a white Christmas, although I wouldn’t be too keen about driving in the snow. Meanwhile, we are swimming and eating ice cream and the cats have taken to sleeping on the floor to keep cool. We do have air con, though, so they are pretty comfortable!!

    • Hi Jill! I wish I could join you… ice cream, swimming… We’re having hard snowfall right now this Monday morning, it’s just impossible to drive a car. Glad we can stay inside and have an extra espresso with chocolate and cat treats for Mr. Bowie.

  12. We’ve had a mild season here so far. I put the shorts away too soon! Oh well. My kitty boys love to watch the snow, but Dougy is the only one that wants to go outside in it. Of course, once he realizes (again) that it is just another form of water, he definitely stays away from it. (I don’t let him outside except for a short look at the snow. Too close to major roads where we live….)

    • Hi Dough! Mr. Bowie’s very lucky to wander around in a garden with a cat-friendly fence. He can’t escape, thank goodness…
We’re having fresh snow this morning, a bit unexpected. I’m ready to go outside and do some snow shovelling… 😦

    • Thank you so much, my dear friend! We had more snow today… My back hurts from shovelling all that snow on my parking lot.
Wishing you all the best and good luck so you can pick up everyone safe and in time before Christmas!

    • Oh yes… Mr. Bowie is outside checking out the garden now the snow is gone…!! He had to stay inside for 3 days. We had a lot of rain yesterday so thank goodness, all the snow is gone!

  13. Yes the snow is here. Where I live we got anywhere from 5 to 7 inches of the white stuff. I made a snow angel by accident. Let me explain. While shoveling snow I slipped and fell backwards over the bank. No wings on my snow angel though. I had hoped we didn’t get that much snow. I would be happy with 80 degrees and no humidity and plenty of snow. Have fun with the snow Mr. Bowie. Liked your post on snow. I am so agreeable with you when you say Snow oh the horror!!🙂>””<🙂

  14. “oh what fun it is to ride in a snowstorm in Belgium, Hey!” (sung to the melody of Jingle Bells)

So that seemed like a short lived winter wonderland. Glad to know your dad was safe and sound! You’re a good son Herman. I see by your message to Crystal that the white stuff is now gone. I hope your catnip has survived this atrocity of weather Mr Bowie!

    Cheers loves! xo Boomdee

    • Hi Boomdee! My goodness, I forgot to check Mr. Bowie’s catnip… That’s the first thing I’ll do tomorrow morning, well, after I had my Nespresso, of course! 😉
We had 2 days of hard rain and the snow is almost gone. Actually, I like it this way. I’m not made for winter but Mr. Bowie likes to play in fresh snow…

My Dad doesn’t like the winter. He also wants that it was spring already…

    • Hi Julie! Mr. Bowie loves playing in the fresh snow. But as you probably know by now, I prefer summer sunshine…
Thank you so much for the December sunshine. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  15. Mr. Bowie, you have lots more of that white stuff than we do! However, we have some really cold temps coming this way and Mom says there’s no way we’re going outside. What we want to know is why she gets to go outside!
We are sending you lots of Merry Christmas wishes for a wonderful day filled with lots of special moments.
Thank you for being part of our world!
Stereo purrs and hugs from Hemingway, Steinbeck and Pam

    • Hi there, my dear friends! Thank you so much for your kind comment and thank you for hanging around this blog all these years!
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful ending of the year! Merry Christmas!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

      • We all love your blog so much. We feel like part of the family and we want you to feel like part of our family. May 2018 be a wonderful year for you, filled with blessings and special moments.
Hugs and purrs………Pam, Hemingway and Steinbeck

  16. My cats were not that fond of snow either, Mr. Bowie. One time, Keona snuck outside and then he couldn’t wait to sneak back inside. He couldn’t shake that cold, yucky stuff off of his paws!!

    • Hi Mary! Sometimes Mr. Bowie enjoys playing in the snow. But due to his ear problem I’m keeping him inside…
Wishing you and your loved ones a wonderful ending of the year!
