Flashback #16

The guardian angel. A few months ago, I heard a hard bang against the window and I found a stunned bird outside. Apparently, a sparrow flew straight into the window of my house. Mr. Bowie, a natural born ornithologist, was outside and checked if the little one was okay. It reminded me of a similar story years ago. I placed the bird in a box so he could reboot in peace and quiet. I kept a watchful eye to make sure no potential predator (the neighbour’s cat) swoop in for a quick lunch. After 5 minutes the sparrow was recovered and flew away safely.

No animals (sparrows or cats) were harmed, killed or eaten during the shooting of these photographs.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

Don’t Mess With…

Don’t mess with the bull… Blackbirds are usually welcome in the garden, until they become a nuisance. Besides making an ugly mess of things, they must stay out of the catnip plantation. Mr. Bowie must send out a very tough and unequivocal signal and must take action.

“Don’t mess with the catnip, you’ll get the claws.” – Mr. Bowie

Guardian Angel

This is a true story. You may not believe it, but it’s true.
For all birds, leaving the nest is a hazardous time and the bird has to learn fast to avoid predators. The young birds leave the nest and move about on the ground and on low branches for a few days before they can fly. Their parents are nearby and continue to care for the birds, answering their demanding calls with regular deliveries of food. The last two days, Mr. Bowie, a natural born ornithologist, helped Blackbird parents and looked after their little one while they were busy.

No animals (Blackbirds or cats) were harmed, killed or eaten during the shooting of these photographs. You may not believe it, but it’s true. And they lived happily ever after.

The Ornithologist

The nest. Mr. Bowie is a natural born ornithologist. A bird watcher. Mr. Bowie works out in the field studying bird populations. He has an abiding love for birds.
Lately, Mr. Bowie is trying to build a nest right next to a blackbird nest in my garden. I guess ornithologists study every aspect of bird life.
