Almost 3 Years

A special day. Tomorrow it’s 3 years ago when Jimi moved into my house. I enjoyed every day and I’m still surprised by the little changes in Jimi’s character, in a positive way. He also became more passionate about his job as a studio technician. And as you probably know, that’s a very heavy task.

I finally bought a Neumann microphone. I wanted one for years but for some reason I never got my hands on one. Accidentally, I found a TLM 103 mic in a shop a few minutes from my home.

As promised in my comments in the previous post, here’s an update on Jos. The little guy has recovered completely and enjoys his outdoor adventures again. Jos doesn’t seems to suffer from his tailless life, thank goodness.

Meanwhile the days are getting shorter. And colder. I’m not happy about this. Spring is my favourite season and I wish I could move to the other side of the globe for the next 6 months. I’m also still very concerned about the situation in Ukraine and that unpredictable irrational madman in Moscow. I’m afraid history doesn’t offer much hope for a happy ending.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Congratulations on the Neumann mic. Jimi seems to have settle in nicely. Jos looks like a bob cat. Oh I guess he is. Have a great weekend and enjoy that mic.

  2. Happy Gotcha Day Jimi, and glad to hear you’re growing into all your serious responsibilities! The madman in Moscow scares all of us, or all of us who are sane. We are all praying for an end to the trumped-up war sooner than later. So unnecessary.

    • Thank you so much!
I still can’t understand we’re in this scary situation in 2022… It looks like we’re back in WW2, or the bloody dark Middle Ages…

Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

  3. Time does fly past us! Jimi has been such a good companion for you. And good studio technician…..well, most of the time. It is hard work so he needs breaks, yea. Happy Gotchya Day Jimi! Oh the whole world is in such a mess, scary on so many levels. I know you always enjoy each day but now more important than before, have good days with music and Jimi and chocolate and espresso. Oh, and cat treats! Jimi and your music can keep you busy in the cold months. Be well dear.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment and tweet, my dear friend! Always good to get such heartwarming comment.
I’m very happy with Jimi by my side. He’s such a sweet boy. I stopped comparing him with Mr. Bowie because all cats are different. Mr. Bowie didn’t stay in the studio for a long time while I was working but Jimi loves to keep me company.
And yes, we keep enjoying all the little things in life. And meanwhile we’re already looking forward to next spring… 😉

Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

      • I don’t know how I missed this. Yes each cat is it’s own self, with its own personality. One of the joys of cats! We miss one as we learn to love another one, and soon we have another wonderful friend.

I’ve been getting all ready for fall and winter, as ready as I’ll get. And have my plans for the garden in the spring. 🍅🥒🌶.

Be well dear, and find happiness in each day.

        • I used to feel very sad and depressed when summer was over. But recently I learned to look forward to happy things so now I’m already looking forward to spring. Just like you are already making plans for next year. But I still hate winter… 😉

Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my dear friend!

  4. Jimi looks fine… he also has a paradise with you.

Putin is the unspeakable prince of darkness who will hopefully end up like his many innocent victims and hopefully he will be hanged from a street lamp by the minorities he now wants to burn and decimate, just like Sadam in his torture centre in Iraq!
Nevertheless, have a nice change of weather into autumn….

    • Thank you so much!

I fully agree with your comment and conclusion. Deep inside, I’m a soft hearted person but I wouldn’t shed a tear if that maniac and war criminal came to a dramatic end.

Wishing you a great weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

  5. I love to see cats happily sleeping in their territory.

There is so much bad news at present I’ve gone slightly numb. It feels as if we’ve circled back around from the promise of the 90s when President Clinton was using the term “peace dividend” and the Berlin Wall had just come down. Now it’s more like waking up in the world I grew up in where we had duck and cover drills and riots in big American cities, only now I’m old enough to realize how bad it is. Covid, war, fascism. The only thing that helps is looking at cats.

    • You are so right. I remember having nightmares about nuclear attacks and explosions when I was I kid. It seems those days are coming back again. Never thought this could be possible in 2022… all those threats, all those lies…
Wishing you a great weekend, my friend!

    • Hahaha… ‘Jimiversary’… thanks for this great expression! Love it!
We’re going to have a little celebration tomorrow. Oh yes, the new King Louis is invited… 😉

Wishing you a great weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

  6. Happy 3rd Anniversary, Jimi and Herman! Jimi is a wonderful companion and studio technician!

I am glad to hear Jos has recovered and adapted to life without a tail. Bless the little one!

Wishing you, Jimi and Jos a pleasant weekend from all of us here. 🐱❤️🐱

    • Hi Lavinia. Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend!

I’m so happy with Jimi by my side. It feels so good to have such a wonderful friend. We’re also very happy to see Jos recovered completely from his surgery. He’s such a sweet boy.

Wishing you and everyone at the Farm a great weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

    • Hi Leah. Thank you so much for your kind comment. You are so right. This war should never had started…

Wishing you a great weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

  7. A Happy Gotcha Day to you both. While we wonder how a new kitty will adjust to the household, the kitties are thinking the same about us … how we will fit into theirs.

A Neumann mic, you’re ready to record. All you need is a pop screen for your mic. With all of us having a worship music background, that is performing live, we don’t auto-tune. We rely on rehearsal to get everything right. What you hear is what you get. Can’t wait till you post your first audio track or video.

We had a brush with late fall on Thursday, cold rain and temps in the mid-40s (deg F). I had to wonder “What Herman would do?” Had a lot of coffee, but sadly no chocolate.

    • Hi David. I also bought a pop screen together with the mic. I’m finishing a list of song to make them ready to record the vocal parts. I don’t like auto-tune at all. But it can be handy to correct some minor mistakes if necessary.

We’re having a (low profile) celebration tomorrow with cat treats and chocolate for the human. It’s been 3 wonderful years together with Jimi. Thanks for your wishes, my friend!

Wishing you a great weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

      • I remembered this video by Rick Beato on using auto-tune.

You’d be surprised by the number of artists who, and the who, use auto-tune both on their albums and live performances.

Elizabeth, for example, has a 3-1/2 octave range and has pretty darn good pitch. While she can’t hit certain high notes, or hit them on a consistent basis, she knows how to bring those high notes into her range. Andrea, as arranger, knows how to rewrite a piece in a lower key so everyone who is on vocal can sing in their range. So, when the audio tracks are mixed and remixed, no auto-tune is used.

        • Thanks for the Rick Beato link. I’m following Beato from the beginning and love all his videos. I can’t remember seeing this one so I’m going to (re)watch it.

I used to be a (not so good) singer in my younger years and did some backing vocals in a few bands. But my voice seems to give up on me since 10 years ago. I wish I had a good voice, it would be so much easier to record my songs. Maybe I should try to record a rap song… 😉

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, Greg! We’re all very happy Jos recovered well from the surgery.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

  8. How exciting – Jimi has been your loyal companion for three years! I’m happy that the two of you are good buddies and that he has turned into a good studio tech. As long as he’s with you, I do believe he will be content. Jos looks great – it’s sad he lost his tail but he seems to have adjusted like cats do. That’s exciting that you got a mic you’d been wanting…..I’m still waiting to hear that first audio track my friend. We must all hope that the madman you speak of will somehow curb his appetite for violence and we can all work on PEACE – which we totally deserve! Sending all of you hugs………

    Pam and Teddy

    • Hi Pam. Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern!
We’re all very happy Jos is doing well after his surgery. The first week after the surgery was difficult and hard, but now he’s ok.

I’m very happy with Jimi by my side and just like Mr. Bowie, he’s also a very good helper as a studio technician. I love spending time with him in the studio. Unfortunately, he’s not a good singer… But I love him close by my side, he’s such a sweet boy.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards!

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, Mary! We’re all very happy Jos is ok and doing well.
Wishing you a great weekend! Jimi sends his regards!

    • Hi Takami. Thank you so much for your kind comment!
I was a bit surprised myself to see that we’re already 3 years together. I’m so happy that I found this sweet boy…
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear friend!

  9. Happy Gotcha Day, Jimi! It was a big four mitts you stepped into to take Mr. Bowie’s place, yet you have managed well! (We still miss Mr. Bowie….)

As for the state of the world, a monster still lives in Moscow; it recently was revealed that Trump seriously intended to take the USA out of NATO, which would have made his puppet master Putin much happier; the general elections in November in the USA are regarded to be as the last chance for democracy in this country; Q anon is a terrorist organization according to the FBI and Trump has taken that group into his circle; a third of Pakistan is under water and Nova Scotia was hit by a hurricane of greater intensity than historically known, both evidences of impending catastrophic weather, while other places are suffering extended droughts; other than that, things are just peachy!

Kitty boy Andy meows greetings to Jimi on his big day!

    • Hi Doug. Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend! Glad you liked the post. I’m so happy I found Jimi, pure by accident. And yes, I do think a lot about Mr. Bowie but Jimi is a dear companion.

I fully understand and follow your view on the world. Lately, I’m afraid to watch the news or read a newspaper. The whole world seems to be completely out of control. You just have to enjoy the little things around you. In my case that’s chocolate and espressos…

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday! Jimi sends his regards to Andy!

      • Exactly my strategy, Herman. When I slip and watch a bit of news, I find my generally optimistic attitude takes a swing into the black depths of hell.

Yes, earlier kitties seem to live with us after death. Each kitty had a personality that amused or enhanced us in some way.

        • I’m skipping the news more and more lately, just like you said, it leads you in a totally wrong direction…

I often think back about all the cats I had in my childhood. I would love to meet them again if it was possible…

    • Hi Polly. Thank you so much for your kind comment! Glad you liked this post. I’m really happy with Jimi by my side and that Jos recovered well from his surgery.
Wishing you a wonderful Sunday, my friend! Jimi sends his regards!

  10. Hello Herman and Jimi, thank you for these updates! So pleased that Jos is doing well. Jimi: I am so happy that you and Herman found one another ❤. We are very upset and anxious about that madman in Moscow…will the people be able to rise up and stop him? Perhaps the military will turn against him as he ignores their advice… We worry too about the people/ women of Iran 💔. Meanwhile, Bagheera’s only worry/ complaint is when I am not sitting with him as I recover. I have tried to explain that it is good for me to move around, but in cat world this is not O.K. 🙄 It is so exciting to see your music studio continue to grow!! All our best, Christine and Bagheera

    • Hi Christine. Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern! I hope you’re ok and wishing you all the best.
We’re all very happy to see Jos recovering so well from his surgery. Just like Jimi, he’s such a sweet boy…
Sometimes it would be handy if we could use an universal translator like in Star Trek, a special device to communicate with our cats… 😉

I’m skipping the tv-news more lately. It makes me feel so sad to see all the bad things in the world. Sometimes it seems everyone’s going insane.

Wishing you a wonderful Sunday, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards to Bagheera!

      PS: thanks for your (re)-tweets!

  11. A special hello for Jimi to mark his 3 years. I’ve been in my “new” house four years now and I can’t believe it! So glad to hear that Jos is doing well. Best wishes to him as well and to you of course.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment! I hope you’re enjoying living in your “new” house.
We’re all very happy to see Jos has recovered completely from his surgery. He’s having a great time back outside in my friends garden…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Jimi sends his regards!

  12. How wonderful having Jimi with you for three years already … gosh doesn’t time fly! He’s such a gorgeous boy! Good to hear that Jos has recovered. Peace, love and understanding to you my friend …

    • Hi Julie. Thank you so much for your kind comment! Glad you liked the post.
I was surprised myself when I realised Jimi lives here for 3 years now. I’m so glad I found this sweet boy in the shelter.
Wishing you a great week ahead, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards!

  13. Oh, that day when you were still strangers but knew it was love. Con-cat-ulations all over again! I’m looking forward to autumn and winter, I’ll send some of my enjoyment your way. The world is always turning toward the morning (from the lyrics to that song by Gordon Bok).

    • Hi Bernadette. Thank you so much for your kind comment. I still believe it was all ment to happen, meeting and finding Jimi by accident. I’m so glad and happy with this friend by my side.
Looking forward to winter…?? I’m already looking forward to spring 2023… 😉

  14. Just 3 years and you’re already the Dynamic Duo in the studio! Bravo and well done 😘 Hello dear friends, what a pretty microphone you’ve acquired and how funny that you found it close to home after all. I predict the two of you will make beautiful music together for years to come. Sending peace, love and understanding back to you ❤️xK

    • Hi Kelly. Glad you stopped by on the blog. Thank you so much, my dear friend!
I’m trying to get Jimi in front of the mic, but it seems not so easy… It was actually funny to find this device so close at home.
And yes, I’m so happy with Jimi by my side. I do still miss Mr. Bowie but Jimi is also such a sweet boy…

Wishing you a great week ahead, my Canadian friend. Jimi sends his regards!

  15. Happy to see Jimi and Jos doing well. What a sweet life they have with you as their caretaker. While an avid admirer of spring, I am however looking forward to the changing tree colors of autumn. Sending the best to you and your cats.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment! Having a sweet cat by your side makes life so much better… 😉
I went for a walk today and you can already see the colours in nature are changing. I’ll admit it looks beautiful but I prefer the fresh green colours from spring…
Wishing you a great week ahead!

    • Hi Charlotte. Thank you so much for your kind comment.
I met Jos a few days ago while visiting my friends and he’s doing well. We’re all very happy to see he recovered fully from his surgery.

Wishing you a great week ahead!

  16. Life keeps on getting in the way of catching up on blogs, so it’s a surprise to read that Jimi has been with you for 3 years already. Which of course means that it is even longer that dear Mr Bowie crossed the Rainbow Bridge ❤️. Now I see you have Jos who lost his tail, poor boy, although not sure whether you are just looking after him or he is yours. Both cats are beautiful.

    • Hi Jill. Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern! Glad you liked this post. Hope you’re ok…
I still miss Mr. Bowie a lot but I’m also very happy with Jimi by my side. Jos is the cat from my best (coffee drinking) friends. Jos revered very well from his surgery.

Wishing you a great week ahead!

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, Virginia! Life is so much easier with a furry friend by your side… Glad you liked this post.

  17. With delay, I wish a happy birthday to Jimi (lots of hugs and kisses in terms of gifts) 😀
Oh, you have a new companion (Jos)? (disabled cats do well sometimes…. you know that Mrs Patmore only has 3 legs? and she runs well, she also often has to escape from Violet Crawley…)

    • Thank you so much for the wishes! We had a great party with lots of treats.
Jos is not my cat, he lives at my friends place. I remember your posts about Mrs Patmore. It’s so beautiful to see people take care of disabled animals.

Wishing you a great week ahead! Jimi sends his regards!
