Run for Your Life

Lighting up your life. As the end of the year is coming closer, we’d like to say thank you for your trust in our blog. We look forward to many interesting posts in 2022. We wish you a happy end of the year.
To be honest, I didn’t liked this year. I didn’t liked previous year either. I can sum up various reasons but I’m not going to bother you. And I realise a lot of us are going through troubled times in multiple ways.

There’s plenty of good in the world, we just have to look for it. Putting up Christmas lights is probably a good way to bring more joy in your life. It’s a difficult task but it’s a lot easier with the help of a furry friend.

I bought some extra lights after decorating the studio. Jimi wanted a Christmas tree in his room. But I think he preferred a bigger tree…

Last week, a funny but scary thing happened to me while I was walking in the nature. I’m always staying on the trails because every hiker has a responsibility to preserve nature while hiking. And I’m keeping my distance when I’m encountering forest critters. But this time I had to run for my life after an encounter with some polar bears. We’re all beginning to suffer the consequences of climate change.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

    • Oh yes, I’m staying positive and I do believe better times are waiting for us all…
Just wondering, can you drive those bears back to the North Pole, please…

Stay safe and healthy, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards!

  1. This year and last year have been hard and/or traumatic for many. Let’s hope the next year goes better! Wishing you and Jimmy and Happy Holiday season from all of us here. ❤️

  2. Jimi gets his own tree, too? What a lucky boy he is! Joyeux Noël from all of us. We so enjoy your blog, Cat Daddy for the musical references and moi for Jimi!

    • Thank you so much, my friends!
The Christmas tree was an emotional decision. It’s the little tree from my dad (‘s apartment). And next week it’s been a year since he passed away. So I felt I had to do something special to remind him. It’s actually the first time I’m having a Christmas tree in my house. Jimi loves to sit beside the tree…

Wishing you a safe and healthy end of the year. Maybe you can watch the Get Back documentary with Cat Daddy during the holidays? And have… “a simply wonderful Christmas time!”

    • Oh no…!! That sounds very scary… Guess I was lucky the polar bears were very, very slow. They were probably tired from the long journey… 😉

      Stay safe and healthy, Jennifer!

  3. Future can only get better…have all a nice Christmas and stay clean and do not shoot yourself in the air on New Year’s Eve!
I miss here only small avatar pictures…is it perhaps been hacked?

  4. So glad you managed to outrun those polar bears! The lights look very festive and great to see you have such a devoted helper 💕🐈 Wishing you both a wonderful festive season and a blessed New Year 🤗🎄🎉

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend! Glad you liked the post. I was actually very tired from outrunning those bears… I needed a strong espresso and chocolate!

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy ending of the year!

  5. Love the photos Herman and Teddy and I hope you and Jimi have a PERFECTLY PERFECT Christmas holiday. We agree with last year AND this year being difficult but we are hoping just MAYBE the new year will be brighter in EVERY way for all of us. We have followed your blog for ages and will continue…..because we enjoy it AND we care about you! Holiday Hugs to you and Jimi.

    Love, Pam and Teddy

    • Hi Pam. Glad you liked the post! Thank you so much for hanging around and following us all these years. I remember you we’re there from the beginning, so many years ago… Your comments always mean a lot to me.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy ending of the year, my dear friends! Jimi sends his regards!

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, Mary!

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend! I’m so lucky to have Jimi by my side, especially during these dark days…
Glad you liked the post and photographs!

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my friend!

  6. Jimi’s tree is lovely! Will you plant it in your yard later?

Yes, the past couple years, well, farther back than that, have been a trial. Like in your family, in mine a beloved family member passed in the time. As an immuno-compromised person, the COVID-19 years have made me a recluse for my own safety. For that matter, my kitty boy, Andy, is vulnerable to the disease as well, so RI have to stay healthy for his sake as well!

So much for negativity! I hope you and Jimi have a lovely Christmas and the best of New Years, Herman! That’s a beautiful photo of Jimi at the top of your post today.

  7. Those Irish bears need to find some snow, I know where there is some 🙂

Hello dear Belgium boys. It’s looking quite festive at Chez Herman et Jimi (vergeef mijn frans). Yes, I think Jimi might be a bit surprised by the little tree! Ha, the look on his sweet face is great! 😁 Maybe he’s thinking, “is this a dream or did I grow very, very tall?” I know a hard anniversary will be for you over the holidays. I wish for you comfort and send a little hug too. Wees gezond en gelukkig, het leven is een geschenk 💗xK

  8. Stupende immagini natalizie, che ho molto apprezzato per la loro originalità.
Tantissimi auguri di liete festività, silvia

  9. Lovely photos! Yhise polar bears are so fun, but they are too small, the real ones are bigger than a sofa for three. This year really has been difficult, and the future is a question mark. Christmas lights are the best thing nowadays.
Merry Christmas to you and Jimi. Hyvää joulua sinulle ja Jimille.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment! So… I was running away from baby polar bears…?? Oh no, glad I didn’t meet the big ones… 😉

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my friend!

    • Hi Polly. Thank you so much for your kind comment! I’m sure Jimi wanted a bigger tree so he could clime in it…

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my friend!

  10. I hope this year is better than the last couple for you and for so many of us. Jimi is adorable, and the photo of him and the tree is hilarious!

    • Thank you so much, Debra. I’m sure better times are waiting for us in the near future.
The eyes of Jimi are indeed hilarious! The way he’s looking at that tree… too funny…

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my friend!

  11. Jimi’s expression as he looks at his tree is perfect…”such a little tree?” Dear Jimi, you are blessed with many gifts in your home with Herman 🥰. We send you both our best wishes…perhaps 2022 will offer more moments of peace. We think, too, of your father and keep him in our memories as we do our parents at this time. Hugs to you, Christine and Bagheera

    • Hi Christine. Thank you so much for your kind and heartwarming comment, my dear friend! To be honest, I’m not looking forward to the next days. Thank goodness Jimi’s here by my side… he helps me to get through these emotional days.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards to you both!

PS: thanks for the re-tweet. Much appreciated!

  12. Hello Herman and Jimi. What a very beautiful boy he is. No doubt I’ve said so before. His expressions are priceless. I wonder what he would think of the polar bears. They are lovely, by the way. I once had two dog friends that would bark at my bust of Beethoven. I
ve always wondered why they took against him! Here’s wishing you and Jimi a festive time I wish you the best for 2022. From myself and the 11 furry ones.

    • Thank you so much for your kind and lovely comment, my dear friend!
Jimi’s expression while sitting by the tree was priceless… So funny! I wonder what he was thinking at that moment…
The story of your dog friends made me wonder; maybe they preferred Mozart or Bach? 😉

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards to all of you!

  13. Herman, what a lovely remembering that you put your Dad’s tree up, I’m sure that Jimi doesn’t mind the size of it, as he looks very photo genic. I know that this a very sad time of the year for you, yet all good memories with your Dad will hopefully help you and always remain with you. Wishing you a more happier year filled with most wonderful espresso times and for Jimi filled with delicious treats. Be well my friend from the other side of the globe.

    • Hi Cornelia. Thank you so much for your kind and heartwarming comment, my dear friend! I’m not looking forward to the next week but to compensate this feeling I went shopping in the candy store today…
Another positive note: the days are getting longer with a few seconds so before we know it spring will be just around the corner! 😉

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my dear friend! Jimi sends his regards!

  14. Love the photos of Jimi, especially with the tree. Nice that you have your Dad’s little tree. So you have a Christmas tree in your house for the first time – but for me, it’s the first time I haven’t put one up! Just not motivated this year. But I did put up some lights outside. Wishing you and Jimi a happy and safe Christmas Herman, and all the best for the New Year.

    • Hi Jill. Thank you so much for your kind comment. You are so right, it’s hard to be motivated in these strange times. I always love to see all the lights outside in the neighbourhood. But I’m not a Christmas tree man… 😉
Glad you liked this post and photographs! The photo with Jimi staring at the tree is so funny. The expression on his face is priceless.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and happy end of the year, my dear friend!

  15. Merry Christmas, Herman and Jimi. This Christmas will be tough, I know. The first one after the loss of a loved one is always the hardest. Next year will be better. Wishing you a very happy 2022. 🐱

  16. They’re the friendly polar bears, in search of fine Belgian chocolates and good espresso. An Irish pub … does that mean they had something filling like an Irish stew, or a hearty beef pie (we call them pot pies here in America)? Perhaps, the bears were looking for the same kind of food and for some spirits too.

You will do fine over the next few days, the next few weeks. I’m sure you will.

Hope you and Jimi had a fine Christmas. A nice dinner, nice treats, nice dessert, some nice chocolate, and nice feline treats.

    • Hi David. Thank you so much for your kind, heartwarming comment and concern! This really means a lot to me. I don’t like these days. But I know from the past, after losing my brother and sister, you finally get through these days. The first year is always the hardest one.

We had a good Christmas day. There was plenty of treats for the both of us. Meanwhile the Covid-19 situation is going completely the wrong direction with the new variation. There’s a mild lockdown and a lot of new restrictions. I’m getting so tired of this… Thank goodness we still have coffee and chocolate to ease the pain… 😉

Wishing you and your family a safe, healthy and wonderful end of the year! Jimi sends his regards!

      • Hope you are doing well, your new year off to a good start. At least started with some fine chocolate and espresso treats, and Jimi with his treats. Megan left me a box of chocolates for helping her out. I thought about taking a photo of a half-eaten box with you in mind, lol. 🙂

        • Hahaha… that would be a wonderful photograph, David! But keep in mind, you’ll never see or find an untouched box of chocolates in my house.

I’m glad we can leave the holidays behind and head for spring, or another box of chocolates maybe… 😉
Thank you so much for your comment and concern!

    • Thank you so much, Pamela! Glad you liked the post and photographs.

  17. You brought a smile to my face so for that I say ‘Thank You. Yes, I would have run the hell out of dodge if I came across those bears 😀 A toast to 2022, I hope it will be a better one than the last.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my friend! Glad you liked the post and the photographs. You are so right, we’re still in hard and difficult times…
Wishing you a safe, healthy and wonderful end of the year and a great start in 2022!

  18. Hi Herman. Just dropped by to wish you and Jimi a very happy New Year with many blessings and good things to come. Sending love and purrs from Gibbs and his slave. 😉

Wishing you a safe, healthy and wonderful 2022 (with lots of tuna), my dear friends! Jimi sends his regards!

  19. I had hoped covid would be over by now it has played havoc and now it needs to go away. 🙃 My grandpa died just before Christmas it is a difficult time to lose someone, especially someone as close as your beloved father was. Happy New Year let’s hope for a better year ahead.

    • Hi Charlotte. Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern!
I didn’t like the past weeks and the ending of the year. And the returning outburst of new covid variations… it’s so hard to look ahead. But I’m sure things will finally get better.
Losing someone close as your grandpa is very hard and painful. I would like to express my condolences to you and your family.

Wishing you a safe, healthy and wonderful 2022, Charlotte! Looking forward to hear you sing again this year!

  20. Jimi seems a little timid. He’s wondering about the lights and the tree. So, one wants to comfort him. Belaud marvelled at everything festive without ever showing fear. Different cats, both lovable.

    • Hi Micheline. I was a bit surprised to see Jimi’s reaction in the beginning. But afterwards he enjoyed sitting beside the tree. He also seemed to like the Christmas lights I put up in the house.
