High On a Monday

Catnip is the healing of a cat nation. Jimi was willingly to help me with the fresh catnip plants. He knows alcohol depresses the nervous system but catnip and chocolate does not!

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Jimi looks willing to give a paw to help get those plants repotted or settled in the ground so he can enjoy them as they grow! Here’s to chocolate AND catnip – a combination to keep any human and his or her cat happy!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

    • Hi Pam. Thank you so much for your kind comment! I hope you’re enjoying your morning coffee (and chocolate)…

    • Hahaha… well, Jimi already ‘destroyed’ one plant. I remember Mr. Bowie reacted more in a relaxing way to catnip but Jimi seems to get more rebellious!

  2. I just checked my front garden this morning and the catnip is really starting to come up. It’s only a couple of inches high now. I can’t wait until it’s high enough to clip some for the cats and watch them play while I have my morning coffee

    • Hi Angela. I had to buy fresh nip plants because Mr. Bowie’s plants didn’t made it through the winter. Jimi’s first encounter was very amusing…

  3. Fresh catnip…oh boy! Jimi is really going to love the garden this summer, but how long do you think that plant is going to last? Gibbs gets the dried catnip, but I may have to think about a small pot on the patio this summer if I can find a place that sells the plant.

    Have an awesome week, Herman!

    • Hi Mary. Jimi already ‘killed’ one plant in his first encounter. He was a little bit too excited while checking out the nip plants… 😉
Maybe, if we still got catnip later this summer, I can serve him a vanilla ice cream with some catnip on top of it!

Wishing you a great week too!

  4. Ahh, catnip will be growing in the garden! This is a good day, he sees that he will have catnip, and it’s warm enough for you to plant it outside. Enjoy your spring. 🙂

    • Thank you! It’s a wonderful day today and we’re enjoying it right now. Glad we’re heading to a good direction. I wish I filmed Jimi’s first encounter with the catnip. It was so funny to see…
I had to be very careful in the local garden center because it was crowded, kinda. Thank goodness you could buy the plants outside…

Thank you for the tweet and wishing you good times ahead in your garden!

    • Oh yes, our cats only deserve the best stuff! Just like the humans deserve good coffee and chocolate…
      Have a great day, Tim!

  5. Well we all need a little ‘pick-me-up’ some days Jimi! I hope your lovely new catnip will thrive in its new home, just as you have. It’d be nice to have a couple of little patches hidden here and there, that’s what I do with my chocolate, ha! Cheers my dears xK

    • Hi Kelly. You are so right, my dear friend, I keep some special flavours of my chocolate in secret places too… 😉
Wishing you a great week ahead, Kelly! Jimi sends his regards!

  6. Where I live catnip grows all year long. Teddy likes it. Jack is the first cat I have had that isn’t the least bit interested in catnip and Teddy is fine with that.

    • Hi Patricia. I noticed there were 5 or 6 different catnip plants in the garden center. Don’t know if some can make it through the winter.
Mr. Bowie also loved catnip but Mrs. Jones didn’t liked it at all. Jimi seems to like it too…

  7. I’m going to grow catnip from seed shortly, but I’ll probably look for some potted catnip just in case! I’ve grown it from seed several times in past.

    • There’s a big garden center close to my home so it’s easy to get some fresh plants over there. They got 5 or 6 different types of catnip. It was very difficult to choose… Next time I will bring Jimi along… 😉

    • Hi Lavinia. The last 2 years I had no catnip in the garden. Mr. Bowie’s plants didn’t make it through the winter and I didn’t buy new ones. But now I was curious to see Jimi’s reaction… He seems to love it, just like Mr. Bowie.

  8. I have made a little herb garden for Samurai and Mischa and they enjoy lying amongst the catnip, cat mint and cat grass! They grow all year round here.

    • Hi Jill. I don’t know what happened with the old catnip plants. Maybe the winter was too cold? Jimi seems to love the new plants…

    • Hi Cornelia. There were 5 or 6 different types of catnip plants and I had a difficult time to choose one. Some stay small, others grow 30 cm high and some even over 60 cm. Next time I’ll take Jimi with me to help to decide… 😉

    • Hi Julie. Mr. Bowie also loved catnip, just like Jimi. But my previous cat, Mrs. Jones, wasn’t interested in catnip.
Right now I’m having troubles with pesky blackbirds destroying our catnip plantation. Looks like we need to move the nip indoors… 😉

Good luck with your new plans!
