Sea of Green

Goodbye winter, hello spring! Well, this post is not about SOG, a gardening method that cannabis growers use to grow the maximum number of plants possible in the shortest amount of time. This is about the fresh, new green colours I see in nature while I’m walking in the first days of spring.

Green is not my favourite colour (it’s grey and black) but I love all the new green colours of spring plants, first leaves and grass. Spring wakes me and I’m calm again, just like Gustav Mahler said.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. The green of Spring is something I carry with me through the hot dry days of Summer and the cold icy hand of Winter. Every year a new beginning. Enjoy yours Herman and Mr. Bowie!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

    • Hi Pam. You are so right! I’m always thinking about this fresh start deep in the dark and cold winter time.
Hope you’re having a great Sunday, my friend!

    • I’m always looking forward to these moments. Always having a hard and difficult time during the winter. I’m ready for ice cream in the garden!
Hope you’re having a great Sunday, my friend!

  2. What a beautiful spring scene and I love the clouds too. Enjoy your long awaited springtime. 🙂
Of course black and grey are your favourite colours – the colours of Mr Bowie! 😀

    • I also realise you’re heading for autumn when we’re going for spring and summer. The world is a beautiful place, especially in the spring and summer period… 😉
Haha… it will be very difficult to spot Mr. Bowie when my house is painted in grey… 🙂

Hope you’re having a great Sunday, my friend!

  3. That is a wonderful place to take a walk and share spring with mother nature. The earth gives us a new start and new magic every spring. My favorite time. Enjoy every minute!

    • This is my favourite time of the year too! All the wonders of nature keeps amazing me, every new spring again…
Glad you liked the post. Hope you’re having a great Sunday, my dear friend!

    • Oh yes, so glad ice cream days (in the garden) are just around the corner…
Hope you’re having a great Sunday, Tim!

  4. Hello Herman and Mr. Howie 🌞 We are catching up on your posts and send belated birthday greetings to your father 💕. Exciting news about the remodeling project! Your photo today is so lovely, and hopeful, that Spring is here 🌺🌻

  5. The rest of the poem Timothy Price quoted (It’s in a Brooklyn, maybe Bronx, New York accent…) is:

Spring is sprung, the grass is ris.
I wonders where the birdies is.
They say the birds is on the wing.
    Ain’t that absurd?
I always thought the wing was on the bird.

Happy Spring to you and Mr. Bowie! I know he’s enjoying the start of the growing season, too, and the chance to enjoyr the sun in the garden.

Here’s another piece of Spring doggerel:

    Spring has newly sprung
the hills are full of grass
    and along comes a billy-goat
    sliding on his overcoat
    down the summer pass.

    • Hi Doug. Thank you very much for this beautiful poem on a cold and rainy day. I enjoyed the poetry with a hot and strong espresso.
Hope you’re having a great Sunday, my dear friend!

      • Dougy’s urinating in a box. It’s driving me crazy trying to work out why he sometimes uses the litter box, others the box or floor! My first thought was the litter box wasn’t clean enough for him. Can’t say that’s the problem. I may havce a kitty with a urinary infection. That’s how my Sunday’s going.

        • Sorry to hear about your problems, Doug. Hope everything works out and you’ll find a solution for Dougy’s problem soon… You could be right; it looks like it’s an infection.

          • The urine puddled in the box, so I could see that it didn’t have blood in it and it was clear, with no strong odor. I tossed a little litter on it to absorb it, then thought, “You;ve just turned this into a litter box!” Oh well. I’ll keep my eye on him. I’m thinking he is upset with the state of the litter box. They have three to chose from, but both prefer to use this same one. That loads it up (so to speak!) pretty fast, so I may miss the point where Dougy wants to step in it.

    • Thank you! Glad you like the photograph. I try to take a walk each day. I need this to help me relax. I’m very lucky to live in the country side.
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

    • Hi Mary. Oh yes, this is my favourite time of the year. So glad we made it through another winter. Looking forward to my ice cream days in the garden.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend!

  6. Such a refreshing image, Herman, in this beautiful picture you have captured of the spring. Does Mr. Bowie like to eat fresh grass, when he is out there? Moshu loves to nibble on the youngest fresh leaves of grass, it’s heaven for her. Have a great week you All.

    • Hi Cornelia. Thank you so much for your kind comment and glad you liked the photograph. So happy to see that spring has arrived in this part of the world.
Mr. Bowie loves to eat fresh young leaves of grass too. Sometimes he just can’t stop eating it…
Hope you’re having a great day, my dear friend! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Moshu!

  7. While spring is making her presence known, here in Colorado, guess what we’ll get overnight? How much hasn’t been decided yet. It may be hot chocolate and ice cream kind of night.

    • Hi David. My goodness, I’m very happy to live in this warmer part of the world… But ok, hot chocolate and ice cream, I can go for that!
Hope you’re having a great day, my dear friend!

  8. Beautiful blues and greens in the photo. Yes, it is finally here I am so happy to see all the green, blue and other colors. You and Mr Bowie enjoy the wonderful spring weather and colors. Hugs and nose kisses

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, Mags!
Hope you can enjoy a lot of warm and sunny days the next months.

    • Hi Hedy! Thank you for your kind comment. I’m spending the afternoon outside in the sunny and warm garden, together with Mr. Bowie. He also enjoys the first warm spring days…
Hope you’re having a great day, my dear friend!

    • Well, my dear Boomdee, Belgium also got very ugly places and sick people. This weekend close to Antwerp, a 23 old girl was murdered by a sexual criminal who was waiting for his trial. People are angry and in shock.
      Thanks for the Mahler tip!

PS: Glad you liked the photograph and sorry for my negative sounding comment.

      • Oh no !! This is really sad and disturbing. I’m so sorry to hear your news. The young woman’s family will be heartbroken forever. It makes no sense and no apology is to be made Herman. You are rightfully angry. There are monsters that should never be allowed their freedom, ever! xB

    • Glad you liked the photograph, Lavinia!
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my dear friend!

    • So true. I need silent places like this to help me relax and find some peace of soul and mind.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend!

    • Glad you liked the post and thanks for the kind comment.
I always feel so much better after taking a walk. It makes me feel so relaxed.
I need to pick up the work in the studio. But right now, it’s a bit of a mess in every room in the house due to the painting project. Hopefully it will be finished over 3 weeks.
Hope you’re having a great weekend!

  9. I have missed so many posts, and now am going to enjoy them all at once 🙂
Elegant grey is a beautiful color. Mr. Bowie will agree 😉 Hope you two enjoy the green these days and your weather is better than here in Ireland.
