No Planet B

Waiting for spring. And summer. Early morning exercise is good for your heart. Walking in the morning has tremendous cardiovascular benefits, so Mr. Bowie gets the most from his walking routine. But today it seems Mr. Bowie regrets his decision of going outside. Temperatures dropped below zero degrees Celsius and a few cm snowfall is predicted for next Tuesday. This will be our first snow of the winter. Although Mr. Bowie likes playing in the snow, lately he prefers sleeping on the duvet in my bedroom.

Meanwhile, over 12,500 students gathered in Brussels on last Thursday, skipping school again for the second week in a row to march for the climate. β€œSkipping school? No. We fight for our future,” one sign read, according to The Associated Press. This protest mimics similar climate movements by students in other countries over Europe. One of the most notable young activists is Greta Thunberg, a Swedish 16-year-old who began a strike in front of Swedish parliament last year and has inspired thousands of others to do the same. The students marching for action against climate change will go on until they see real change, according to Anuna De Wever, the 17-year-old instigator of the movement. Respect! The Belgian students are hoping to protest again next week, according to the reports.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Mr. Bowie you look like you’re ready to come inside to warm up. We have snow here as well……! I hope that those who are working for climate change will be HEARD – we just have this one chance on this earth of ours after all. Sending you and Mr. Herman hugs from across the pond……

  2. I too would much prefer prefers sleeping on the duvet that playing in the snow. πŸ™‚ I think we all want to reverse climate change but I don’t think much will be done as long as polluting is profitable.

  3. Poor Mr. Bowie. Our kitties are out walking in -4.4ΒΊ C temperature this morning. I was talking to a young person about climate change and asked him what effect climate change policies should have on world climate. He said to get a constant 70ΒΊ F (21ΒΊ C) around the world. The sad thing is he seemed perfectly serious in believing policy changes could make that happen.

    • Hi Tim. I think climate change it’s a very difficult issue. We are all a bit guilty too I guess, with our hunger for more comfort and luxury… For instance, I don’t understand why it’s possible to fly to any major city in Europe for a few euro’s…

PS: Mr. Bowie enjoyed his walk this afternoon. It was still cold but a very sunny afternoon…

  4. He’s a very smart cat, so a quick adventure and back in the warm is good. No planet B, and not enough people fighting in the right ways to save the home we have. 😦 Greed is such a good motivator.

  5. As I am reading this we are getting the first real snow in over a month. It is also supposed to mixed with sleet and rain. Then the temps are going to drop significantly (temps around 33F to 5F in a matter of hours) and everything is going to freeze. Basically a real mess. Stay warm!

    • Hi Sarah! I’m getting ready for the snow next Tuesday with my shovel… πŸ˜‰
Already counting the days for the start of spring…
Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

    • Hi Suzanne! Thank you so much for your kind comment.
I really hope that people finally realise they need to do something to save our planet.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

  6. Mimi stepped out, turned around and came right back in today. She thinks I’m crazy because I think i’ts beautiful. Yay for those kids saving all our futures!

    • Hi Bernadette! I can picture the scene. I opened the door this morning but Mr. Bowie walked backed to my bedroom in search of a warm duvet…
Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

  7. I would welcome your 0 degrees C today. We are having a very cold weekend, highs around 14F with wind chills. Gibbs stays inside…as if he’d even want to go out.

I’ve been encouraged by the world’s youth of late, that they are concerned about the climate and their fellow human beings. I hope they change the world for the better!

    • Hi Mary! I’m curious how Mr. Bowie will response to the first snow tomorrow. He loves playing and walking in the snow… As you know, I really don’t like snow and winter…

I’m very happy to see that the young ones are concerned about the climate. Let’s hope our leaders and the industry will do something to stop the way we’re heading right now…

    • Hi Lavinia! Hope you’re all doing well at the Farm. We’re going to get some snow tomorrow. I guess Mr. Bowie will love to go outside because he likes to play in the snow… Me, I wish it was spring already… πŸ˜‰

  8. Hello Mr. Bowie and Herman! I like your very clever, and accurate title. As we continue down the rabbit hole on this side of the expanding pond, I am so grateful to see Mr. Bowie’s face in a new posting. He most definitely has a shocked expression…his bottom must be registering the temperature πŸ˜‰

    • Hi Christine! Glad you liked the post! I’m ready to take some photographs tomorrow when it’s snowing. Mr. Bowie loves to play and walk in the snow. As you know, I prefer summertime in the garden with ice cream… πŸ˜‰

    • Thank you, my friend! So glad you liked this post.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  9. Mr. Bowie, it is better to be in warm then to be outside… In here winter is very strange, very strange… I hope and wish we can save the earth… Thank you, have a nice day, Blessing and Happiness, Love, nia

Hope you’re having a wonderful day! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  10. I can understand mr. Bowie! The weather we have now makes me think more often that I made a wrong decision when I chose to go out of my flat πŸ˜€

    • I fully agree with Mr. Bowie and prefer to stay inside when it’s too cold outside. I wish the summer would last for 12 months… πŸ˜‰

  11. I’m with you Mr Bowie. Just cover my head in the blankets till spring. Although, seems your snow is very late. Hooray for engaged, young, motivated adults ! What a refreshing change from the half hearted old guard of late. xB

    • We fully agree with your comment, my dear! Thank you so much for your kind comment, Boomdee.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  12. Oh, sweet Mr. Bowie that is much too cold to walk outside. Chancy and I play ball inside and walk around the house a lot in that kind of cold. Stay warm and cozy. Hugs and nose kisses

  13. Excellent title! You’d think some people have forgotten we only have One Earth, the way they continue to abuse it.
Poor Mr Bowie – wants back in – on your duvet again! Maybe it looked warmer outside, from Inside! πŸ˜€

  14. Stay inside and sleep a longer under the duvet with Mr. Bowie. That’s the better plan.
“What? There’s no Planet B? But, what about Planet X?” (Couldn’t resist.)

    • Haha… Planet X… that’s a good one! πŸ™‚
Meanwhile I’ll stay on this planet, catch some zzz’s with Mr. Bowie and enjoy my espresso’s…

  15. Going outside in the first snowfalls is always fun. It is something you can not plan to do. You just have to wait until the snow comes. Thinking about doing it ilike all things is many times better than Actually doing it! We are still waiting. Temperatures are too high.

    • Hi Greg. As I told before on this blog, I don’t like snow. But I’ll admit I just love walking on fresh fallen snow. It relaxes me and I like the sound it makes…
Hope you’ll get some fresh snow soon…

  16. Oh dear, it is not fun at all! Mr. Bowie has a valid reason to join the protests πŸ˜‰
When I was young (Johnny Biosphere’s era) I used to work in projects related to Environment protection. We often organised workshops with guests from Sweden, and as far as I know Sweden was a leader in this field with industrial air pollution 80% lower than elsewhere in the world. What happened? Is it that bad these days I wonder?

    • I’m so glad that all these young people are taking time to tell our leaders something’s really wrong with our climate. Let’s hope we can stop this bad situation…
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Inese!

    • Hi Julie! I’m so glad and proud at the youngsters. We definitely need to do something…
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment!
Greta is one of the most importent people of the world right now. It’s really amazing and remarkable what she’s achieving. Respect!

    • Hi Milly! Mr. Bowie turns 10 years old this year. And I’m still enjoying staring at hime every day… never get tired of it! πŸ˜‰
Thank you so much for your nice comment!
