Magic Carpet

Fly away. Mr. Bowie’s magic carpet won’t get off the ground. Carpets fly because of lift, and the high-speed air flowing under the carpet generates this needed lift. Or perhaps you’ve forgotten something very important like magic?

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. I like to dream
Yes yes right between the sound machine
On a cloud a sound I drift into the night
Any place it goes is right
Goes far flies near to the stars away from here
Well you don’t know what uh we can find
Why don’t you come with me Mr Bowie?
    On a magic carpet ride… Steppenwolf, 1968

    Dream, Mr. Bowie. Dream.

    • Oh yes… you rock, my friend! I just checked out this Steppenwolf song on YouTube and replaced the vocals line… 😉

      • I think “Born to be Wild” is Steppenwolf’s most famous song. Look up the 1969 video or Steppenwolf performing Born to be Wild and then look up their 2006 performance of Born to be Wild. When rockers get old is interesting. Actually, look up “Jim Dandy to the Rescue” by Black Oak Arkansas on the Midnight Special in 1975 and then compare it to BOA now. Interesting indeed.

        • That guy looked a lot like Iggy Pop! I had long hair in the late 70’s but not that long.
I also like another song from Steppenwolf, ‘The Pusher’. My brother had the soundtrack from ‘Easy Rider’. The movie begins with that song, great song too.

  2. That looks like a big yawn Mr. Bowie…I am with you on that. Maybe we both should take a nice long nap. While you nap maybe you will dream you are on your magic carpet flying all around. Nose kisses for you and hugs for Herman…you two have a wonderful day.

    • Hi Mags! Thank you for your kind comment. I’m always wondering what our furry friends dream about… I’m mostly having weird and scary dreams, though…
Hope you’re having a marvellous day! And watch out if you fall asleep on a (magic) carpet!

  3. I think there is plenty of magic around your house Herman……you and Mr. Bowie together make quite a magical match. As for carpets flying – well – when we dream at night we can go anywhere and safely too! Mr. Bowie looks quite like he’s wishing VERY VERY hard in that photo that the carpet would just lift him up and take him for a little flight but he would want to be back home with you ASAP. Home is where the heart is (and the treats too!). Have a wonderful day you two……

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy

    • Hi Pam! You are so right about ‘Home is where the heart is’ and especially the treats for cats and humans…
Hope you’re having a marvellous day, my friend! Thank you for your kind comment.

    • Oh yes… thank you so much for this advice, my dear friend! Mr. Bowie will soon be high up in heaven… 🙂

  4. The carpet won’t comply? Mr.Bowie seems bored. Perhaps our hero will just take a big nap in the sun to follow his big yawn. You can fly much farther in your dreams Mr. Bowie, and wake up safe at home with Herman.

    • Mr. Bowie went back to his secret favourite spot in the garden and disappeared for a few hours. Guess it was time to catch some zzz’s…

  5. May your blessing for your readers apply to you today, too! After a television kicked the bucket, I have been left without 24 hour news to beat me down, I’ve slept longer and better than in years, and I wonder if I really need a replacement or just a new approach to watching television news. Did I mention, I have more time to amuse my cats, Andy and Dougy? They approve!

    • You are so right, Doug. I can’t stop reading the newspaper and watching the tv-news. And it always makes me feel sad or bad… I think it’s a very good idea to stop reading or watching the news. Better watch our furry friends and live like they live…

  6. I think you might be ready for a nap Mr Bowie, luckily your magic carpet ‘goes far, flies near, to the stars away from here…why don’t you tell your dreams to me, fantasy will set you free’ ….sweet dreams my dear xo K

    • Mr. Bowie was very sleepy indeed, Boomdee. He slept for hours on his favourite carpet inside the house. And I’m always wondering what our furry friend dream about too…

  7. Mr. Bowie is a magical act, Herman. Who knows what he might do. 🙂 Those are some great looking teeth in that photo. 🙂

Is it any cooler where you are now? We are getting a reprieve from the heat this weekend. All the best to both of you from the cats and crew here.

    • Hi Lavinia! Who needs magic when Mr. Bowie is around? My furry friend keeps surprising me every day… So happy with his company!

The weather conditions are as good as perfect. Temperatures are somewhere around 25 degrees Celsius (77 F). But we still need rain, a lot of rain because many plants are dying.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to the cats and the crew out there!

    • Hi Julie! I’m feeling sleepy every time I see this photograph. That’s a good way to kick off from my sleep medication… 😉

    • Hi Susanne! Thank you so much for your kind comment. Let’s hope Mr. Bowie keeps his paws safe on the ground…
Wishing you a wonderful weekend! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!
