3 Days

3 more days to go. Hang in there, Mr. Bowie! Temperatures will drop from 37 degrees Celsius tomorrow to 23 degrees Celsius next Friday. Finally! No more panting and puffing because of the heat. Mr. Bowie loves to hide from the heat in the Pennisetum, commonly known as fountain grasses. I guess it’s one of the best spots to hide in the garden. I prefer to stay inside with all the fans blowing at maximum speed, giving me a hard time to read the newspaper.Β Monday I’ll have Friday on my mind…

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Glad Mr Bowie has found a shady spot, my two are doing the same, although it’s not quite so hot here in the UK. Almost forgot about The Easybeats. 😎

    • Later during the day, Mr. Bowie’s coming back inside to chill and catch some zzz’s. Around 8 PM he goes back outside to check out the garden. Meanwhile, I can’t get that song out of my head… πŸ˜‰

  2. I do understand this weather watching and I hope you get your cooler weather as promised. πŸ™‚
Right now, here in Cape Town – it is raining! Hooray! πŸ˜€
PS Mr Bowie looks so cute hiding in the grasses. I am sure it is much cooler in there. πŸ™‚

  3. Mr Bowie needs a big, bushing catnip to lie under. At least you have cooler temperatures to look forward to.

    • Hi Tim! I need to buy new catnip plants for Mr. Bowie ASAP. All his plants died this summer. I know the garden centre were I used to go, sells a big variety of Nepeta cataria plants. I’m going to buy another type of nip plant this time…

  4. He is so adorable, wherever he hides. It’s so good to hear that your temp will finally break and give you some enjoyable time in the garden yourself. Be well and take good care of yourselves.

    • Oh yes, we are (both) looking forward to Friday. I like summer and warm sunny weather but this is too much… You just can’t enjoy sitting outside in your garden. The only good thing about this situation is… ice cream! πŸ˜‰

    • So happy we’re getting cooler weather and rain later this week. Thank goodness we humans don’t have a fur like Mr. Bowie!
      Stay cool, my friend!

  5. Super photo – those golden eyes looking up at you asking WHY you disturbed him in his “lair” while he was keeping cool……we all know that Mr. Bowie is COOL all the time – one very cool cat! Hope some relief comes for both of you. Hot here too……!

    Hugs, Pam

    • Hi there, my friends! Hope you can find a cool place too… somewhere in the neighbourhood of ice cream? πŸ˜‰
Wishing you a wonderful week! Stay cool!

    • Hi Lavinia! Unfortunately, there was no room left for me to join Mr. Bowie in his cool spot. At noon he came back inside. Weatherman just said tomorrow could be the hottest day of the year in this part of the world. Thank goodness we’re getting cooler weather afterwards…

  6. Credit to Mr. Bowie for finding a way to cope. As my furnace man said, fans don’t cool the air, just your skin. Fans don’t help cats much, mine only like it because I have to sit in one place and they can demand attention. I do hope the prediction of cooler weather is accurate, you both deserve a break.

    • You’re right, fans don’t cool the air but I like the cool breeze you feel. I don’t like the idea of airco in my house. There are some technical issues and to me airco belongs in a car.
Mr. Bowie ignores the fans. I think it reminds him of the vacuum cleaner…

  7. I see beautiful eyes peeking from behind the greenery. Wishing sweet Mr. Bowie and you sweet Herman a very nice day and week. Enjoy the cooler weather when it arrives. Hugs and nose kisses from me Chancy and Pooh to you both.

    • Hi Mags! Thank you so much for your kind comment. We are so happy cooler weather will finally arrive later this week.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Chancy and Pooh!

  8. Someone else above, or below, may have said this, but I don’t wanna be a pirate! No, wait, I said that yesterday. The heat is coming back on us too although weather systems are totally different and unconnected. Before long the leaves will start turning colour and we will be heading for Winter. How many days til Christmas? Outside in the plants is a great place to rest! Keep the fans turning!

    • Serenity Now! Oh no… sorry… that’s about previous post! πŸ˜‰
Fans are turning at full speed to help me cool down for the night. I would love to have some Christmas temperatures right now.

      • Has your temperature finally dropped? In the weather department, we were dodging hailstorms/torrential downpours for a couple of days last week before drying out.

        • Oh yes, finally! Temperatures are below 30 degrees Celsius. Before the temperatures dropped, we had some thunderstorms with minor damage in this neighbourhood. But now I can enjoy breakfast and reading the newspaper outside… Mr. Bowie stays outside almost the whole day.

    • Hi Cornelia! ‘Ice cream’ are the magic words on hot and warm days. One more hot day to go in this part of the world. Thank goodness…
      Stay cool, my friend!

  9. Bravo Mr. Bowie, you found a nice place in the garden. I will follow your example and will hide myself under the sunflower. I nice day for you and Herman, love Susanne πŸ™‚

    • Hi Susanne! That’s a very wise decision of following Mr. Bowie’s advice…
Wishing you a wonderful day, my friend! Stay cool!

  10. Herman, that is a gorgeous photo of Mr. Bowie! Beautiful! I’m glad you have an end in sight with the heat. Watching the news tonight, it seems that heatwaves and wildfires are occurring in many parts of the world. I hope you both get a break and enjoy your ice cream in much cooler weather.

    • Hi Mary! We’re finally enjoying some cooler weather today. Last night we had 2 major thunderstorms with a lot of damage in the neighbourhood. But we are ok.
Wishing you a wonderful day, my friend!

    • Thank goodness we’re having cooler weather today, after the thunderstorms from last night. All the humans and animals in the neighbourhood seems to be very happy…

    • Oh yes… unfortunately, there was no space left for me to join Mr. Bowie in the grass! Thank goodness temperatures dropped down today and we’re having cooler weather.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend!

  11. Hey there Mr Bowie – I sure have missed you! My lazy human almost never let’s me use “her” iphone now that the littlest Creature is able to walk -(and run, and scream, and scream, and run)- so I haven’t been able to visit FOREVER – but I have a few minutes to sneak out now while she’s making dinner so I decided to stop by.

I hope your house is still Creature free! πŸ™€

    • Hi there, my dear friend, we missed you! Glad you’re back and everything’s ok.
Guess you’re having a very hard time dealing with the littlest Creature learning how to walk… Hope you’re having a secret place to hide…
Thank goodness all the little creatures in our family are grown ups, well, most of them anyway… πŸ˜‰
Wishing you a wonderful day, my friend! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  12. This is a gorgeous photo Herman! I can imagine you wandering through the garden and finding Mr Bowie in the grass. “Hey little buddy”….”hey daddy” and he looks up wanting to be rescued from the heat. You’re a great team xo Boomdee

    • I wish there was place left to join Mr. Bowie in the tall grass… It’s one of his favourite places to hide from the heat and he doesn’t want to be disturb to often… πŸ˜‰

  13. Beautiful photograph! This weather is obviously a challenge for Mr. Bowie, but he remains classy even within the most challenging conditions. Hope the weather madness gives you a break soon, and you will eat ice cream for pleasure, not necessity πŸ˜‰
