Pretzels

“These pretzels are making me thirsty.” This is one of the first popular lines to emerge from the sitcom Seinfeld. The New York Post listed the “pretzels” line as one of “Seinfeld’s 25 greatest contributions to the English language.” Seinfeld is my favourite sitcom in television history.Temperatures will drop below 30 degrees Celsius next Wednesday. Hooray! It’s about time… This heat is making me thirsty and leaving me longing for ice cream.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. What a GREAT shot of Mr. B enjoying a faucet drink! Great angle……and you know, Seinfeld “hatched” a great number of fabulous lines that have become iconic – the pretzels line was one but there were so many others. One of the BEST comedy series of all time. We had a break in the endless rain we’ve had – sun yesterday and part of today before rain comes back. Have a lovely Sunday Herman and Mr. Bowie!

    Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

    • Hi Pam! I fully agree, Seinfeld is one of the best comedy series of all time. I bought all the seasons on DVD.
We’re expecting thunderstorms and heavy rain fall next Thursday. We need that rain. Mr. Bowie’s catnip plants all died from the heat…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday, Pam. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  2. A silly sitcom…about nothing, and it was always so funny! That’s a nice shot of Mr. Bowie enjoying a drink from the outside faucet. That’s great you finally get a break from the heat. Better weather ahead for you, I hope, and of course, more ice cream. 🙂

    • Haha… something about nothing… so funny indeed!
Looking forward to the cooler weather this week. But we’ll keep on having ice cream, of course.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend! Happy gardening!

      • Yea they said it was a show about nothing. I just picked some tomatoes and cucumbers. The garden stuff is late cos it had a rough start, but here we go. Eat the ice cream and enjoy cooler days, sitting in your beautiful garden.

    • Thank you, Tim. Feel free, if you’re interested, to check out Seinfeld on YouTube. Just type ‘Funniest Seinfeld Moments’ and enjoy. However, some jokes may be a bit out of date…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday, my friend!

  3. I have never watched Seinfeld but have heard he is pretty funny. I may have to check out some of the reruns they are showing of him. Love that picture. We are always longing for ice cream around here hope you enjoyed some Chancy and I will enjoy some a bit later today. Glad you are going to be getting some cooler weather…enjoy it. Hugs and nose kisses

    • Hi Mags! Thank you for your kind comment. We’re so glad to get some cooler weather, finally. I took this picture a few hours ago with my phone. Mr. Bowie was waiting at the tap when I arrived home from my dad’s place.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend. Enjoy your ice cream!

    • Thank you, my friend! I took the photograph without checking the screen. It was pure by accident I got this composition…
We are looking forward to get the cooler weather next Wednesday. Like I said before, it’s way too hot for this part of the world. But right now I feel like getting some ice cream, chocolate flavour I guess… 😉

  4. That is a great photo of Mr. Bowie getting a drink at the faucet, Herman!

It was a pleasant 46 degrees just before sunrise, headed for 89 by afternoon. Our temperature swings quite a bit between day and night. Another month of this intense daytime heat, and then we start to cool off, although we won’t see actual rain until mid September or October.

    • Thank you, Lavinia! Mr. Bowie got 4 bowls to drink from spread around the house. But he prefers to go outside and ask me for fresh tap water… especially in the summer.
The next 2 days will be very hot, Tuesday will be one of the hottest day of the year, probably. Thank goodness we’re getting cooler weather from next Wednesday and rain showers from Thursday.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to all the cats and crew!

  5. I never watched Seinfeld so I didn’t know that. And I think pretzels are possibly the most discardable food invention of all time. They taste like baked cardboard. I cannot imagine why anyone bothers to eat them.

Fortunately, I bet Mr. Bowie has a much tastier diet and I’m glad he enjoys the running water like my Bengal does! Does he ask for it? She jumps up on the sink and gives me my orders.

    • We don’t have pretzels in this part of the world. But reading your comment it seems we’re not missing something good…

Mr. Bowie got 4 bowls to drink from spread around the house but he prefers running water from the tap. And yes, he ask for it too. So funny…

Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

    • Haha… the Soup Nazi! So funny… I love to re-watch all the episodes of Seinfeld.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

    • Haha… ‘The Puffy Shirt’ with the ‘low-talker’… One of the best episodes!
Hope you’re having a wonderful day!

  6. Hej, Herman and Mr,Bowie, great to have a break from this heat, here in California as well, it cooled down a bit for a few days. Great picture of Mr. Bowie licking from the faucet. Enjoying here vanilla ice cream and lemon shorbet toppled with raspberry jam. It helps to survive the heat, next wave is coming middle of this week. You both stay cool!

    • Hi Cornelia! Thank you so much for your kind comment! Vanilla ice cream and lemon shorbet toppled with raspberry jam… I can go for that! Mr. Bowie had his drink on the faucet, this morning. Now he’s on patrol in the garden.
Hope you’re having a great day!

    • Oh yes he is! He prefers fresh rain water but unfortunately, we had no rain for weeks/months…
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend!

  7. Relief from the heat – hmmmm! – I think a nice lemon or lime sorbet or plain vanilla would do me fine! Enjoy the lower temperatures next week and give Mr. Bowie a nice head rub from me for now!

    • Hi Doug! Lemon or lime sorbet or plain vanilla sounds all good for me too… Looking forward to the cooler weather later this week. I’m having a hard time to sleep at night…
Hope you’re having a wonderful day, my friend! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

  8. The “It’s about nothing” line became a code with me and my best friend, especially about work. I do hope it starts cooling for you an Mr Bowie. This summer made me go back and watch that old English science fiction movie The Day the Earth Caught Fire. Compared to them I felt cooler. Now back to the (coffee) ice cream.

    • Hi Angela! Love the “It’s about nothing” quote too, and I used it myself a lot of times, like many other lines from the Seinfeld saga.
Thank you for the ‘The Day the Earth Caught Fire’ tip, I’m going to try to find it on my cable provider’s network. I remember I have seen it many years ago but I can’t remember a scene or a storyline. Maybe it will help me to cool off a bit faster too…
      Enjoy your ice cream!

  9. You’re a smart kitty-cat to stay hydrated Mr Bowie 😀 My favourite Line from Seinfeld is Elaine, “you think I have class?” as she over-chewed a wad of gum. And Neuman winging the door open and looking disheveled, “ohhh, the humanity”. A line he of course borrowed from history. I find I evoke these lines at times ❤ xo Boomdee

    • Haha… I’ve been re-watching some Seinfeld clips on YouTube and it always makes me laugh again… I’ve been using a lot of Seinfeld lines in the past and people think afterwards that I’m a funny guy! 😉

      • Ha! You can’t go wrong with material that’s made millions! I was just watching an episode of ‘Jay Leno’s Garage’. Do you get that show? It’s fabulous. Vintage cars, interviews and California scenery. Jerry Seinfeld was the guest on one episode. Maybe it’s on the web? I love it ! x k

    • Thank you, Julie! The next days temperatures will stay below 30° Celsius. That’s much better…
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

    • The temperatures dropped, finally, and we’re enjoying outside the very pleasant weather right now. So happy we can spend some quality time together in the garden…
