They say life is like a road. They say it has bumps, cracks and obstacles, but in the end, it gets you somewhere. Last months, I had to bounce back from bumps in the road and focus on emphasizing the positive. But don’t worry. I am okay. Mr. Bowie is okay.
In fact, Mr. Bowie is doing very well. Today, Mr. Bowie had his medical check-up concerning his ear (and eye) condition after his surgery from months ago. And again, thank goodness, the lab results were very good, no signs of those stubborn bacteria. Mr. Bowie was treated a second time for tick prevention because we live in a place with the highest tick population in Europe.
If the forecasters are correct , a widespread, long-lasting heat wave will spread across much of Europe. Weather forecasts for the next two weeks predict temperature highs between 26 and 31 degrees Celsius. May was a very dry month, and June has also been terribly dry. The situation for the time being is normal, but in ten days will be considered dry to extremely dry. Home-owners are advised not to waste valuable water on things like watering a lawn. So Mr. Bowie, don’t spoil the fresh tap water and understand the value of water! And now if you’ll excuse me, I have to buy some ice cream…

We just had a heatwave. Il y a eu des mortalités. Je plains les gens qui n’ont pas de climatiseur. Belaud et moi ne sommes pas sortis, l’appartement étant climatisé. Belaud, mon chartreux gris-bleu et “plissé”, n’a pas voulu aller se reposer sur le balcon. Il n’en finissait pas de boire de l’eau. Que ferions-nous sans ces compagnons? Je pense souvent à vous. We are at the end of a very bad heat wave here; brutal and some people died because of it. Keep cool, you and Mr. Bowie. Hope it doesn’t get too hot for you to enjoy being out in your garden.

It’s been too hot here to enjoy garden work for a couple weeks. I have to sneak out quick in the mornings and sometimes in the evenings so I don’t get cooked! Things are growing well tho, and getting watered with the hose almost every day. Get your tomato sauce with meatballs; that is such good stuff.

I can imagine, dear Herman, I’m so sorry. It was a truly unhappy game to watch (except for Mbappe’s heel-flick pass to Girou, which I focus on rather than Girou’s subsequent flub). France just seemed cold-blooded to me, no love in it (other than Mbappe and of course there’s the incredible Griezmann and the excellent Kante). I did like what Hazard says: “I prefer to lose with this Belgium than win with this France.”
Oh yes, that comment from Hazard was just great! But France played like we played against Brazil, kinda, waiting to counter attack at the right moment. And some of our top players weren’t as good like they were against Brazil. Well, c’est la vie, like the French say…

I am glad that your “journey” has leveled out – having experienced a lot of bumps in mine, I know how wonderful it is when you get to “smooth sailing” and I hope that continues for both you and Mr. Bowie! I am very glad to hear you and Mr. Bowie are doing well and his exam results were so good. I spent my childhood summers in the town next to Lyme Connecticut, so I know a lot about ticks and Lyme disease. People don’t appreciate how sneaky those ticks can be, so tick prevention is a good idea. We have been having the heat wave this week with heat indexes as high as 42 celsius. The cats got ice cubes in their drinking fountain and I stocked the refrigerator with bottles of water. Stay cool and well, both of you.

Herman, I have to admit, each time I see a new post of yours, my heart pulses go up high for the first moment not wanting to hear bad news about Mr. Bowie. Oh, I can breath better now by reading that Mr. Bowie is doing so well. And yes ice cream makes hot days cool down a bit more.
