93

Hooray! My father turned 93 today. We had a small celebration with chocolates (of course) and coffee.

Last week, some local officials, dressed in traditional folkloric costumes, payed tribute to my Dad because he’s still one of the oldest inhabitants of the village. This is a regular annual tradition. Many happy returns!

Happy Birthday to you, Dad!

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Herman I can remember past birthdays of your Dad when the local officials came by – I just love that tradition – it’s super special – just like your Dad is! Ninety-three is a wonderful landmark….I hope your celebration with chocolate was fabulous. Happy Birthday to your Dad……….

    Pam and Teddy too

  2. Happy Birthday to your father! That’s great the locals honor the oldest inhabitants. Nothing like that takes place around here that I know of. Chocolate and coffee is on secret to long life.

  3. Congratulations to your dad. What a wonderful milestone. We send best wishes for many more birthdays. He has to be a great guy, as he is a Pisces, just like our mom and dad. 4. Diavolo and I send birthday greetings to your father. So wonderful about the local officials dropping by. I remember you mentioning it in a couple of past blogs.

  5. Wish your Dad ahappy birthday from me. I love that the village honrs him, here in America I think we are often too yoouth oriented. I admire your Dad because not only has he lived long but I think he has lived well. You can see it in his face, especially with the children.

    • Hi Angela! Glad you liked this post. Thank you so much for your kind comment. My Dad still lives on his own in a beautiful apartment. But we take good care of him… 🙂

      • Your Dad is my model for a good old age, like my dad who is 90 and also still in an apartment, His is in a complex specially designed for older people with common rooms and recreational places. In Amercia you have to drive everywhere. So they have a bus which takes them grocery shopping and to medical appointments.

        • Happy for you that your Dad still lives on his own in a specially designed complex. That is so beautiful.

  6. Happy Birthday to your father, Herman! What a wonderful way to celebrate his birthday! All the cats and crew here send their best on this special day! Lots of espresso, chocolate and cat treats!
