Thank you, Tim! There are dozens of these little chapels in the village where I live. And I guess there must be millions of them in this part of the world. Some of them are really very old.
Maybe I could do a post about all the chapels in my village… π
Thanks for sharing something thatβs part of the life where you live, and that we donβt know about at all. Friends across the water; friends who teach us nice things.
That’s a great photo π And what a lovely place to go and think of someone π
Hoping you and Mr Bowie are well. Sending sunbeams – I have many to spare today! π
Hi there, my dear friend! Glad you liked this post. We had a lot of sun today, though is was freezing cold. I enjoyed an extra long walk after staying indoors for days due to the heavy rain showers. Mr. Bowie preferred to stay at home on my bed and take the rest of the day off… π
That is a beautiful photo, Herman. I agree with scifihammy that is a lovely place to go and think of someone. All the best to you and Mr. Bowie from all of us here. π
Hi Lavinia! Glad you liked this post and thank you so much for your kind comment.
The temperatures dropped below zero (Celsius) but we’re having sunshine and icy winds. Still, I enjoyed my walk in the afternoon.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to the Cat Crew of Salmon Brook Farms! Hope you’re having a wonderful day!
I can picture the scene. Just find out on the news we’re getting fresh snow tomorrow… Oh no…!! π¦
Guess I’ll join Mr. Bowie on my bed the whole day after shovelling the snow…
Beautiful and restful spot to spend some time reflecting………I like the idea of a series of photos of special spots like this – that would be GRAND. Hope you and Mr. B are fine and happy.
Hi Pam! Glad you likes this post. I’m passing a lot of these little chapels on my walks. Maybe it’s a good idea to take photographs and look into some history books of our village to see if I can find some more information about them. I’ll keep it in mind…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!
Such a pretty setting for a little chapel. I love the trees that surround, they are very unusual. It looks like a large bonsai project without the leaves.
Hi Mary! This is indeed a very special place. I was wondering who takes care of these places? Maybe some volunteers or people from the neighbourhood?
Glad you liked the post, thank you!
Thank you for your prayer Herman. We have several of these places in our village and at the way to a pilgrim chapel. There are flowers and candles. People rest there. Love to you an Mr. Bowie
Hi Susanne! Glad you liked this post. Thank you so much for your kind comment.
There are also a lot of flowers and candles at these places in my village. I respect the people who take care of these places.
What a lovely photo and spot. You can add my vote for a series. I have seen little shrines like that in Mexico, not the same style, but obviously the same intent. These little pockets of culture are disappearing everywhere, I think your village must be a very good place. he cats say “meow” to Mr. Bowie and I say have a nice cup of coffee to you. It’s especially nice after a walk in the cold, Yes?.
Hi Angela! Glad you liked this post. I was wondering if this subject was interesting enough to post on HoB. Much to my surprise a lot of followers seems to like it…
There are a lot of these shrines in my village. We call them “kappelletje” in Flemish/Dutch meaning little chapel.
Thank you for your kind comment! Much appreciated, my dear friend!
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards. He enjoyed his treats when I came back home, I made myself a hot chocolate milk! π
We don’t have too many of these individual stations, but more along the lines of the old mission churches and chapels. I thought you might like this since you were thinking “I Say A Little Prayer For You”</em …
Hi David! Thank you for the link. Love that song, especially the Aretha Franklin version. This song is covered by a lot of musicians… Always makes me feel good!
Beautifully framed image, Herman, thank you for sharing. That’s one of the beauties in Europe, you find little chapels like that or just even a cross, all over the places, at least in Bavaria, Germany, I used to love those.
Hi Cornelia! Glad you like this post! I’m always taking a little break when I’m passing one of these little chapels on my walks. I sit down and think about all what is happening in my life and what I can do to make my life better.
A small time spent counting one’s blessings each morning makes for a positive outlook! I remember seeing these in Europe and thinking what a lovely tradition.
The kitty boys, Andy and Dougy, tell me to tell Mr. Bowie “Meow!” and to make sure you give him a nice “scritching” or being a brave kitty boy while he endure recovery from his eye and ear problems.
No, my conclusion was that you were saying a good-bye prayer to Mr. Bowie and I was so scared. You wanna sing? Go for it. I am sure it is great! As long as it is pleasure singing and you aren’t actually saying a prayer because you’ll miss ‘im forever and ever. Whew!
I’ll always love Dionne Warwick’s rendition of that song, Herman. I agree with Tim that the chapel project would be a great idea. As someone else said, it’s not something we see over here. Hugs.
Hi Teagan! Glad you liked this post. I took some photographs of 4 other little chapels on my walk, last week. Maybe it’s a good idea to make a series about them…
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!
Hi Christine! Glad you liked the post!
Always stop for a few minutes and think about what’s happening, what’s wrong and what I can do to make my life better…
Aww, such a special, beautiful prayer. I am studying this very attractive scenery. I always think visiting resting places like cemeteries is so fascinating. . .
Super photo of a really interesting place.

A chapel series would be a cool project.
I’m going to keep it in mind. Could be cool a project, yes…
That’s very interesting and very pretty. I never saw anything like it here.
Religious people (like my grand parents) use to go light candles and say prayers at these places. It was a populair meeting place.
Thanks for sharing something thatβs part of the life where you live, and that we donβt know about at all. Friends across the water; friends who teach us nice things.
So happy you liked this post! My pleasure, dear friend!
So beautiful, Thank you dear Herman, I pray too, Love, nia

Sounds perfect – I really love to walk in the sun on a cold winter’s day. π
Mr Bowie likes his creature comforts π
Well, we all know Mr. Bowie is a very wise cat… π
He is that! π
That is a beautiful photo, Herman. I agree with scifihammy that is a lovely place to go and think of someone. All the best to you and Mr. Bowie from all of us here. π

All nine cats are sacked out in front of various windows, on couches or beds. Stomachs full of breakfast, they are quite content. π
I can picture the scene. Just find out on the news we’re getting fresh snow tomorrow… Oh no…!! π¦
Guess I’ll join Mr. Bowie on my bed the whole day after shovelling the snow…
No snow here this year, yet. π
You are very, very lucky! Our snow was here but gone one day later… thank goodness! π
Beautiful and restful spot to spend some time reflecting………I like the idea of a series of photos of special spots like this – that would be GRAND. Hope you and Mr. B are fine and happy.
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

Hi David! Thank you for the link. Love that song, especially the Aretha Franklin version. This song is covered by a lot of musicians… Always makes me feel good!
Burt Bacharach, in his late 80s, (turns 90 this year) continues to tour on a limited basis.
He wrote a lot of great songs and music. My mother loved his music and bought his records.
Thank you Herman, for sharing a beautiful and personal place with us. Wishing you, Mr. Bowie and your family much blessings π
Hi Takami! Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern! Glad you liked this post.

Hi Dough! Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern! Always love old traditions that can give me some peace of mind…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Andy and Dougy!
Andy and Dougy “Meow” back to Mr. Bowie! Traditions do give one a sense of continuity and order.
So true. Thank you!
What a nice little poem/saying. picture is nice too.
Thank you, Crystal! Glad you liked the post!
I did.
I could use one–send it my way
Wishing you all the best, my friend! Hope you’re ok!
You’re just singing, right?
At first my heart dropped, but I think you are just singing.
Feel free to draw you own conclusion… π
But I’ll admit I like that Burt Bacharach song!
Whew!
Oh…!! I’m so sorry for the confusion. I wasn’t my intention…
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
I am just glad your kitty is ok. You two have been through so much. Whew! So glad you were just singing! Sing loud! It’s all good! Whew!
Glad he is ok! π
Thank you! We are all so happy right now!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Singing along now on this beautiful morning in Sydney.
While combing my hair now
And wondering what dress to wear now
I say a little prayer for you
Holidays are the best! xB
Love that song too. Burt Bacharach wrote some wonderful songs…
Hope you’re having a wonderful time in Sydney! Have fun, my dear!

Aww, such a special, beautiful prayer. I am studying this very attractive scenery. I always think visiting resting places like cemeteries is so fascinating. . .
