Good News, Bad News

Well, there’s good news and bad news. Thanks to the new antibiotics Mr. Bowie’s ear infection is completely healed. But now that his ear is free from discharging pus and slime and the pain and swelling is disappeared, the doctor discovered a small polyp. This is rather serious because the polyp is growing right through Mr. Bowie’s eardrum very deep in his ear. So it has to be removed by surgery. Most likely this polyp could be the cause of Mr. Bowie’s permanent ear problems. The surgery is scheduled for Friday next week.

On the other hand, my negative feeling was compensated: 3 Spitfire Audio exceptional sample libraries from my Xmas wish list arrived yesterday. Spitfire Audio was formed in 2007 by award winning composers Paul Thomson and Christian Henson. Spitfire produces the finest virtual instruments from the finest musical samples in the world. However, Mr. Bowie was so disappointed with the box size…

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. The good, the bad and an ugly little box as for as Mr. Bowie is concerned. Let’s hope for the best on his polyp surgery. I can certainly feel Mr. Bowie’s pain and frustration with the ongoing medical issues. Rosncrantz can relate, as well, and meows Mr. Bowie his best wishes and success with the surgery. I think that little box is calling for some catnip.

    • Thank you so much, Bernadette! What a coincidence… got a new big box (with cat food and treats) delivered today!
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  2. Sending you hugs and prayers for surgical success and a complete recovery.
We order our cat food from Chewy.com and even though it doesn’t need it they send it in a big box every time. If the postage wasn’t so high we’d send you the empty box because Diavolo ignores it once the food is out.
Here’s hoping Mr. Bowie soon has an appropriately sized box.

    • Thank you so much, my dear Misha! I got a big box delivered today with cat food for Mr. Bowie! He’s testing the box right now… 🙂
      Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. Wow, we cannot believe Mr. B. must go through more medical treatments. That sounds like a difficult surgery. We’ll be keeping Mr. B in our thoughts and prayers and were sending POTP. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

  4. At least you are finally getting to the root of Mr. Bowie’s problems. Perhaps you could get him an appropriate-size box as compensation for the surgery.

    • Oh yes, let’s hope we finally found the solution for all his ear problems from the last years… I’ll keep my eyes open for a very very big box! 😉

    • Thank you so much, my dear friend! I have to go to a shopping mall and I will keep my eyes open for a very big box… 😉

    • Thank you so much, Lavinia! On the other hand I’m also a little bit happy that we maybe found a solution for all his ear problems of the last years.
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  5. Mr.Bowie is such a hero, going through so many surgeries and treatments, I hope he still keeps his humor and patience. Well he has become famous in the universe through your posts, I suggest he should get an award called something like that “Mr. Universe most patient and handsome cat”. I’ll vote for him to do the cat walk on the red carpet!!!

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear Cornelia! So true, Mr. Bowie deserves his place between the famous stars of the universe… 🙂
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  6. Wij hopen dat alles opgelost is na de operatie. Hij is bijna terug ne nieuwe 😉 .

    Weer een super foto trouwens!!!

    ❤ ❤ ❤

  7. Happy New Year, Herman. I’m sad to hear the news of Mr. Bowie’s polyp but it’s good he will have surgery soon. Of course thinking of both of you and best wishes to your family too.

    • Thank you so much, Takami!
Wishing you and your loved ones all the best and a happy New Year!
      Have a wonderful weekend!

    • Thank you so much, Ulrike!
Wishing you and your loved ones all the best and a Happy New Year!
      Have a wonderful weekend!

  8. Oh poor Mr Bowie! It’s a shame he has to have another op, but on the bright side, at least the cause of his ear problems has been found and he should feel much more comfortable after the polyp is removed.
I think you need to go out and buy something in a Big box – just for Mr Bowie! 😀

  9. Well we are happy that Mr. Bowie’s ear infection is better but the polyp, if it’s the source of the problem, once removed means “smooth sailing” for Mr. Bowie’s ear problems we hope. Poor boy has had his share of issues and we will be hoping and praying that the surgery goes well and he is finally free of ear problems. He’s been so brave (and you have too!). Sending hugs….

    Pam and Teddy too

    • Thank you so much for your kind and heartwarming comment, my dear Pam! Let’s hope his ear problems will finally be over after the surgery…
      Have a wonderful weekend!

      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  11. Paw-pats from Bugs and Barney. It seems that uncovering health problems down to their root can be like peeling an onion. We hope this next surgery will get down to the core. Please keep us posted.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend. Let’s hope we’re finally at the end of our ear problems… I’ll keep you posted.
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  12. Aww that’s scary to learn but thank Bastet it’s a polyp that can be removed and hopefully will end Mr. Bowie’s problems once and for all. He deserves for 2018 to be a healthy, vet free year! Healing purrs sent from Pearl.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend. Let’s hope this will be his last surgery… and his ear problems will finally be solved.
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  13. Oh no, the poor little guy has had enough! I hope for the best for the surgery and that this won’t affect his hearing. And it’s good that you got good stuff which sounds like Greek to me, but he got disappointed with the box! What good is a box if it’s not big enough to provide cat magic! Both of you have a good weekend. We’re in Siberia over here.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment, my dear friend! Let’s hope all his ear problems will be over after the surgery. Pure by coincidence, I received a big box yesterday so Mr. Bowie is very happy right now…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Stay warm and safe!

  14. I have noticed that suddenly there seem to be a lot of unknown growths requiring surgery amongst the cats I read about. What happened to the Happy new Year? Doesn’t seem to be lasting very long. Hope things go well with Mr. Bowie. Surgeries are a worrisom thing.

    • Thank you so much for your support and concern, my friend! Let’s hope this will be his last surgery… If this goes on I’ll have to find a second job to pay all the medical bills… 😉
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  15. oh boy….Mr Bowie !! You have been through too much, yes.
I’m sorry to hear you will need a surgury my little friend. I know you are in the best care because your dad loves you so much. Mijn hart is vol hoop voor jullie allebei! Take care of each other dear friends (Herman, can you remind me of your mailing address, boomdeeadda@gmail.com) xK

    • Hi Boomdee! Thank you so much for your concern and support, my dear friend. I’m so tired of all these medical issues from the last years. Let’s hope this surgery will solve all the ear problems of the last years…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Stay warm and safe!

    • I received a very big box yesterday so Mr. Bowie is very happy right now!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Thank you so much for your concern.

  16. I’m glad that he got some meds for his infection and I’m glad that his infection is treatable but it’s to bad that he has some more troubles going on. I’ve heard that these are easy to remove though since they are usually small. I wish Mr. Bowie good luck and happiness! 😿

    • Hi Teagan! Thank you so much for your concern and support, my dear friend!
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  17. Sorry that Mr Bowie needs more surgery but on a positive note, lucky that the polyp has been discovered and that surgery may permanently fix his ear problem. That would be so great. Thinking of you both. Hang in there, Mr Bowie!

    • Hi Jill! Thank you so much for your kind comment and support, my dear friend. There’s a very good chance Mr. Bowie’s ear problems will finally be solved with this surgery. Let’s hope for the best…
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday!

  18. I’m sad to hear that Mr. Bowie needs surgery again, but I hope this fixes his ear problems once and for all. I’m guessing there will be the “cone of shame” again, which will make Bowie unhappy for awhile. He’ll need some extra love, so sending successful wishes for the outcome of surgery and healthy healing from across the pond. Hugs!

    • Hi Mary! Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern. I’m really hoping Mr. Bowie’s ear problems will finally be solved after the surgery. Ok, there’s still the “cone” issue but that’s a small price if all the problems will be over… 😉
Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Stay warm and safe!

  19. Hello Mr. Bowie and Herman, I have marked the date of the surgery on my calendar and will be waiting to read (and see about) Mr. B. I am so sorry you both continue to wrestle with this, but- as you note- this may resolve the root cause of all the difficulties. Sending you both hugs and all our best wishes, Christine, Dylan and Bagheera

    • Hi Christine! Thank you so much for your kind comment, support and concern. This really means a lot to me. So glad you’re still hanging around after all these years!
I’ll keep you posted about the situation with Mr. Bowie’s surgery next Friday! Let’s hope this will solve his ear problems for good…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards, especially to Dylan and Bagheera! 😉

  20. Mr. Bowie, you must stop getting those fection things! You don’t need them. We want you healthy and happy and we know your human does, too. We will be praying that your surgery goes well and that you won’t have any lingering problems. This is not how we wanted 2018 to start for you! Soft paw pats coming your way from us and hugs from Mom.
    Hemingway, Steinbeck and Pam
P.S. Tell Herman to stock up on chocolate so he can eat it while you are in surgery.

    • Oh, my dear friends… thank you so much for this heartwarming comment, support and concern! So happy you keep thinking about us… Let’s hope Mr. Bowie will finally get rid of all those nasty ear problems after his surgery. Thank goodness his eye is healing very well.

PS: Did anyone mentioned “chocolate”…?? 😉

  21. Removing the polyp should resolve the recurring the ear infections. The box size, disappointingly too small.

In the meantime, all ahead with the treats. 🙂

    • Thank you for your concern and support, David! We will definitely keep your advice on the end in mind… 🙂

  22. So sorry to hear that Mr. Bowie has to go through more treatments. It is a good thing he doesn’t know this, so he won’t worry much. This operation should help him and stop the infections.

Today is David Bowie’s birthday, so I thought I would visit and say hi.

I don’t know what these people were thinking about when they sent such an undersized box. I believe they are very good at what they do, but hello, some things are common sense 😉

    • Hi Inese! Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern! You are so right, thank goodness Mr. Bowie doesn’t know about the surgery planned next Friday. Let’s hope all his ear problems will be over afterwards…

I think I’m going to sue that company if they keep sending me such small boxes in the future… 😉

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern, my friend.
Wishing you and your loved ones all the best in 2018! Happy New Year!

    • Hi Julie! Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern. Let’s hope Mr. Bowie’s ear problems will be gone forever… Thank goodness his eye is healing well.

    • Thank you so much for your kind comment and concern. Let’s hope the surgery next Friday will solve all the ear problems of Mr. Bowie… I’ll keep you informed, my dear friend!

  23. Glad the infection is gone but I’m sorry you have to have surgery for the polyp, Mr. Bowie. Sienna the cat can sympathize – she had to have polyps in her right ear removed several years ago. Take care you two! You’ll be in my thoughts. xo
