Mr. Bowie’s on drugs! Recently, Mr. Bowie gets two capsules a day that contain L-lysine. It should improve his strength and health. Lysine is an essential amino acid that plays an important role in building up immunity to fight diseases and infections. It should help him fighting his eye infection. Thank goodness he likes the taste of the powder when it’s dissolved in water.
Meanwhile, Mr. Bowie’s eye condition improves slowly in the good direction. He can keep his blurred eye open for a longer time period. Don’t worry, his eye will become more clearly over the next months.

Na al die maanden van miserie… Het doet echt deugd om nu te zien dat het echt aan ‘t beteren is.
En ja, heel grappig met zijn medicatie. Net zoals de vorige keer lustte hij dat niet in het begin en moest ik het in zijn mond spuiten. En nu likt hij het kommetje snel leeg! 🙂

Little Monkey has to have eye cream twice a day – forever. She hates it and it is hard to put in the eye which had the op, as the eye lid is quite tight now. Still, we do what we can for our pets’ well-being. Treats all round 😀

I’m very lucky that Mr. Bowie is a very calm cat. Every vet that treated Mr. Bowie told me he’s the calmest cat they ever met! I also have to clean his ear with a liquid once a week and put drops in 2 times a week. Respect for our pets and treats all round…

Mr. Bowie is a STAR……taking his medicine and everything – being patient – he obviously knows that you and his doctors are doing ALL they can for that eye of his – soon the infection will be just a memory! I am glad you are taking your drugs, Mr Bowie. My Jack has a cyst in his eyelid. He has to have eye drops twice a day. He is following your good behaviour example. 🙂 He would like to know if you get treats, like he does, for good behaviour?

What a good boy to take his medicine without a fuss. So stressful if you had to use the syringe all the time. The photo was a bit alarming – good to know that his eye will clear over time. Keep up the good progress, Mr Bowie, with the help of some extra treats, of course!

Our Abby cat had feline herpes as a kitten. Every now and then she will get a mild outbreak, and she gets the lysine caps. Lysine out-competes arginine, which the virus needs as part of its replication cycle.

Good Mr. Bowie likes the caps! That makes it easier, for sure. I had to dissolve the contents in a little water and feed them to Abby by eye dropper, as she does not like pills.

At first, I did the same but with a small syringe. Thank goodness Mr. Bowie decided it was rather silly and started to lick the solution in a little bowl.

My two rejected food with powdered L-lysine in it, yet love, love, love the paste form that comes in a pump container. Regardless, I’m pleased to read Mr. Bowie likes it dissolved in his water! It does help build up the immune system in cats, and that will help him recover from his eye infection! Getting our kitty friends to ingest what’s good for them is a challenge many times, as anyone with cats knows.
You are so right, Dough, it’s always a challenge to convince our furry friends what’s good for them. I tried the lysine paste form but Mr. Bowie said ‘No can do!’ Much to my surprise he likes the dry powder dissolved in water… Thank goodness!
