Newsflash #24

Medical update. Yesterday, Mr. Bowie had his medical check up concerning his eye surgery from last week and all went well. The healing process is going good as expected. He still needs a minor surgical procedure to remove some stitches and if necessary, insufficient working tissue from the transplant. They will perform the procedure in two weeks. Unfortunately, Mr. Bowie is depressed because he needs to stay inside and wear his cone for another week… Hang in there, my furry friend!

Got no feel, I got no rhythm
I just keep losing my beat (you just keep losing and losing)
I’m OK, I’m alright (he’s alright, he’s alright)
I ain’t gonna face no defeat (yeah yeah)
I just gotta get out of this prison cell
One day (someday) I’m gonna be free, Lord!

“Somebody to Love” – Queen

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. I feel so sad for Mr. Bowie’s confinement indoors and the cone. Keep giving him extra love and a few extra treats and he’ll make it through this just fine. Love and kitty hugs for Bowie.

  2. Oh Poor Mr Bowie! LM totally sympathises with him, as she is also still in her cone – and it is Massive in comparison – but she does get to go outside at least.
Still, the good news is that Mr Bowie’s eye is healing. Hang in there! 🙂

  3. Mr. Bowie, we sure feel badly for you, buddy. This has gone on for such a long time. We send purrs, POTP and prayers for the upcoming surgery. Sure hope there is going to be a party when that cone comes off. You deserve it! XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo and Cooper Murphy

    • Hi there, my dear friends! Thank you so much for your kind words and concern.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards! I’m sure he agrees to have a party next week… 😉

  4. Hi, chief mouser in reserve…there are some more comfortable cones on the market! plzzz search google for “comfy cone” …not cheap but maybe one touch more stressless (?)
the best of luck ! cheers!

  5. Hang in there just a little longer Mr. Bowie and you’ll be all fixed up! And keep singing that good Queen song. Oh, and keep the treats coming too, for both of you! 🙂

    • Hi Lavinia! We are so glad to head in the right direction. Let’s hope all goes well the next weeks and months…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to the cats and crew at Salmon Brook Farms!

  6. Poor Mr. Bowie, he just knows the annoyance and frustration. At least you have the satisfaction of knowing he’s healing Herman. Cloud and the girls say hang in there, Mr. Bowie, at least Herman will let you out eventually, we are indoor only.

    • Thank you so much, my dear friends! We are so glad Mr. Bowie is finally healing…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Cloud and the girls!

  7. Oh man. Shut inside for another week. That’s like a month in kitty time. But it’s all for the better Mr. Bowie.

    • A month in kitty time?!? Oh no…!! Bummer! I never look at the situation in this way… I can’t imagine me having no chocolate and espresso for a month! 😉
This must be very hard for sure…

  8. Oh poor Mr Bowie! It might be an idea for your hoomans to walk you in a harness so that you get some exercise and fresh air without jumping or climbing into trees. Hang in there dear friend and much love from all of us here :o)

    • It’s very difficult to drink and eat. I put his bowls on a platform and fill them to the upper edge. But the cone always gets in the way, kinda…

  9. Mr. Bowie, at the end of your confinement and “cone time” will be a lifetime of healthy eyes and good sight! You’ve been through so much but soon you’ll be outside in the fresh air again. It’s not easy being patient (or being A patient!) but you have been a real trooper my friend!

Hugs, Teddy (and Mom Pam too)

  10. Poor boy, but it’s for the good. Glad that you were able to find the specialist for him.

About the collar, not every cat is accommodating of one. It’s probably the one thing that won’t be saved for the Mr. Bowie Museum.

    • Hi David! We are so glad that we are finally going to the right direction after all these months of troubles. Thank goodness I could use cat treats and chocolate to compensate our hard times… 😉

I made a deal with Mr. Bowie. We are going to burn his cone on a bonfire!

  11. Poor Mr.Bowie! I’m glad he was able to get his surgery though! Purraying for him to recover completely!🐭

  12. As always, my thoughts are with you both.

Also, I’m so sorry I have been basically MIA in the blogosphere. Things have been shifting and changing so I got knocked off balance. Things are finally settling down so I should be able to keep up better now. 😀

    • Hi Jackie! Thank you so much for your kind words and keeping us in your thoughts. This really means a lot to me.

  13. If the weather that you have there is similar for that we experience here in Poland it’s maybe even better for Mr. Bowie to stay indoor… Autumn is that time which makes us domesticated 🙂

    • So true! I really got a good feeling this time about his healing process. Let’s hope he can wander outside in the garden next week!

  15. Mr Bowie, my little Jack the Schnauzer has just ended 2 weeks of confinement (and no walks). He says, hang in there, and all will be well. He says the outdoors is twice as sweet when you get back to it the first time.

    • Haha… Thank you so much for these wise words! I’ll tell Mr. Bowie when he’s awake. Right now he’s sleeping on my bed… 😉
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to little Jack the Schnauzer!

    • Thank you so much for your kind words, my dear friend!

  16. Love that song by Queen and quite appropriate for Mr Bowie, he so wants to get out and be free!!! I’m sorry that he still has more procedures to go through, it just seems to go on and on….but it sounds like he’s in good hands and so pleased that he had a good report.

    • Hi Jill! Thank you so much for your concern and kind comment. We are so glad to see we’re finally moving in the right direction. I got a good feeling about it.

  17. Dear Bowie, I hope you can already see the light of the end of the tunnel, ( called cone), you are almost there. As patience is often not often the goldest gift cats can have, but you are definitely proving that this myth is wrong. Moshu and I are winking to you.

    • Hi Cornelia! Thank you so much for your concern and kind comment. We are so happy to see there’s finally some improvement. I really got a good feeling about the situation right now, after all these months…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards to Moshu! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear friends!

    • Hi Christine! Thank you so much for your concern and kind comment. If all goes well, I can remove Mr. Bowie’s cone tomorrow. He will be glad to wander outside in the garden…
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards. Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! We got an extra hour today because we moved from summertime back to wintertime (Daylight Saving Time).

    • Hi Russel! Thank you so much for your concern. I got some good news… If all goes well we can remove that cone tomorrow and Mr. Bowie can go out and have some fun outside in the garden!

  18. How’s my favourite kitty doing? Hello friends, thank you for putting F.M. in my head this morning! Gosh I love that song. It must be hard to look at the window Mr Bowie and wish you could go out. Hang in there ! xo K

    • Hi there, my dear Boomdee! Hope you’re ok!
Mr. Bowie spends a lot of time sleeping on my bed, recovering with my permission… I think we’re finally heading in a good direction. Keeping our fingers and paws crossed!
