Newsflash #20

There’s good news & bad news. Mr. Bowie is awake and back home. The surgery went well and let’s hope he’s on the way to a speedy recovery. Unfortunately, the doctor discovered that Mr. Bowie’s other eye also shows signs of a viral infection. We will definitely have to follow up this issue and let’s hope for a successful outcome. Next medical check up on Monday.

Can’t stop wondering what I did wrong in this life, or maybe a past life, to deserve all the tragedies, misfortunes and BS of the last 3 years. But hey, no matter how many times life knocks us down, eventually we get back up again.

Thank you for all your good wishes, get well messages and concern in the previous posts. Much appreciated! Sorry I didn’t respond to all of you.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. Keep a positive outlook. Important thing, taking care of Mr. Bowie and letting Mr. Bowie take care of you. Be well, have a good weekend. Do spoil each other. 🙂

  2. It sounds like you’ve found a top notch surgeon at least. In my experience, life is making the best of the less good times, and really appreciating the brilliant ones. Unfortunately, BS happens, and to the best of people, and felines.

  3. Hang in there Mr. Bowie. You will overcome. How many of us wonder what we have done at present or in some other life to bring on misfortunes? You’ve had difficult loses, and now Mr. Bowie’s chronic infection is more than enough to make you wonder. You have many friends around the world pulling for you and Mr. Bowie. All that positive energy can only result in good.

  4. So pleased to have news of Mr Bowie. To hear the surgery went well. Sounds like he has a good surgeon, and, if necessary, the other eye will be done. You’ve had such a difficult few years. It can feel overwhelming, I’m sure. I’m struggling with health problems and feel the same at times. I find that meditation helps me. Give Mr Bowie a little kiss from me.

    • Hi Letizia! So sorry to hear about your health problems. Wishing you all the best!
Thank you for hanging around all these years and your support. Much appreciated!
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  5. Continued good wishes for you and Br. Bowie. I’m so sorry this surgery wasn’t the end of the concerns.

    • Thank you very much for your concern and your support all this time. Much appreciated, my dear friend!
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  6. So glad he the surgery went well and he is back home. It is important to stay positive around Mr Bowie and not show your sadness in his company – animals often feel they have done something wrong when their human companions look at them with big sad eyes. Thinking of you and wishing Mr Bowie a speedy recovery from his operation xxx

  7. Glad to hear Mr. Bowie is safely out of surgery now, Herman. Keep your chin up, Mr. Bowie! We all love you!

Take care of yourself, too, Herman. It can be all too easy to forget to look after ourselves when caring for someone else. 🙂

    • Hi Lavinia! Thank you for your kind words and support. It means a lot to me knowing you’re out there and keeping us in your thoughts.
Wishing you and the crew a wonderful weekend!

  8. We are happy you are home and awake, Mr. Bowie. The best part is that your surgery went well. We’ll be praying extra hard for you to heal quickly. That isn’t good news about the other eye, but maybe this was discovered soon enough that some form of medicine can clear it up. When you are feeling down, remember that you have a super great dad who loves you bunches and a nice home. We love you and send POTP and purrs along with the prayers. • Thank you so much for your heartwarming comment and support, my dear friends. This really means a lot to me! Thanks for hanging around all these years.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

  9. I tend to wonder the same thing. But then I remember and truly believe that we are not given tests that are more than we can handle and each one has a life lesson, if not for you then for someone one else.
Holding both of you in my heart (it’s a little crowded in there).

    • Hi Misha! Thank you so much for your concern and heartwarming comment. I know a lot of people here are going trough very difficult times right now. Thank goodness we can find some support.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear friend!

      • You, too. Just snuggle up with Mr. Bowie.
Amazing the amount of support we can get from our friends we have never met.
In March I met with several of my blog friends who treated themselves to visits to Venice while I was there.
Something to think of for one of my future visits (that will probably be a couple years from now).
After a day of doctors myself I’m ready for some cuddles from my furry friend.😘

        • Thank you for this story. I’m also very glad to receive so much support from friends all over the world. It means a lot to me.

    • Hi Sarah! Yeah, it was a real bummer after hearing the surgery went well… Thank you so much for your comment and support. Glad you’re still hanging around after all these years.
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  10. “Like” the good news that the surgery went well. “Not so much like” the other eye’s involvement. Just wanting you to know we’re here and paying attention. Poor old Mr. B and family. A yin and yang deal, I guess. A philosophical approach is probably best (but hard to maintain, isn’t it).

    • Thank you very much for your philosophical comment, my dear friend. And I’ll find some comfort next morning in a good strong espresso (and dark chocolate)…
Wishing you a wonderful weekend and thank you for hanging around all these years!

  11. Happy to hear the surgery was successful and I’m sure Mr. Bowie – should the other eye need the same procedure – will handle it like a “champ”……believe me though I totally understand sitting there wondering WHY. Life is full of “whys” and the older we get the more “whys” there seem to be. Good humor, love and hope get us through…….”We get by with a little help from our friends……” Right?

Love and Hugs, Pam and Teddy too

    • Hi there, my dear friends! Thank you so much for your heartwarming comment and concern. Thank you for staying with us all these years. Much appreciated!
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend, Pam!

  12. Mr. Bowie is a veterinary medicine mystery! Glad he did well with surgery and I’m hoping this is the beginning of a healthy new year ahead! Don’t blame yourself – you are a super cat dad!

    • Hi Aimee! Thank you very much for your kind comment and support. Thanks for hanging around all these years in good and bad times. Much appreciated!
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  13. Well, that certainly wasn’t the outcome I was hoping for. I’m sure he’ll remain his usual loving self, but it’s awful watching a family member with medical issues

    • First I got the good news about the surgery but it was a real bummer afterwards…
Thank you very much for your kind comment and support. Much appreciated!
Hope you’re having a great weekend, my friend!

    • Thank you so much for your warm comment and support, my dear friend. Glad you’re still hanging around after all these years.
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  14. Love and purrs to you and Mr. Bowie. You both shall overcome the vet visits, surgery and this illness because you have far too many people sending you healing vibes and prayers. One day at a time, Herman.

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

  15. Thank you so much for your update on Mr.Bowie’s surgery, I kept thinking of him. It seems like one step at a time, hopefully the outcome of the other eye can be treated as successfully as the first one. When our feline’s suffer it is like we suffer as well, at least that’s how I feel with Moshu, since we have such a strong connection, like you and Mr.Bowie. It made me happy that you mentioned espresso and dark chocolate since quite a time. Take care of yourself too, Herman. Well wishes for a cuddling weekend.

    • Hi Cornelia! Thank you for your heartwarming comment and concern. Much appreciated. You are so right, when our furry friends suffer we suffer as well… Thank you for hanging around all this time. This really means a lot to me.
      Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

  16. So pleased Mr B is home and on the mend. I’ve been thinking about him and so relieved to read your update. So good news really that any problems in the other eye have been picked up well ahead of time. I can understand that you are feeling pretty low at the moment, but I don’t for a second think that life works that way, so you shouldn’t beat yourself up about everything. Instead just try to get through one day at a time with the support of all the people close to you, not forgetting all your blogger friends who genuinely care about Mr Bowie and you.

    • Hi Jill! Thank you so much for your beautiful and warm comment. You are so right. Instead of feeling so low about the news of his other eye, I should be glad that they discovered it so soon… Let’s hope we can keep it under control.
I’m so glad to get so much support from all over the world. This means a lot to me and makes me feel a lot better.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, my dear friend!

  17. I am glad to hear that the surgery went well. This was important. And I am sure the other eye will be healed soon. You are in my thoughts. Have a nice weekend, Love, nia

    • Thank you so much for your support, my dear friend. Yes, first it was a bummer but thank goodness they discovered the new problem so fast. Let’s hope everything goes well.
      Wishing you a great weekend!

  18. BS, tragedy, and misfortune like to spread themselves around. They have no boundaries. I have no idea how to get rid of them but coffee, chocolate, Mr Bowie, and you, Herman, quieten them down. 🙂 Be well soon, Mr Bowie.

    • Thank you so much for your support and wisdom… Coffee and chocolate, I can go for that! 😉
Hope you’re having a marvellous weekend!

  19. I certainly understand about the trials of life. They do seem to come in clusters and you find yourself saying why me? It’s especially bad when it’s about our animal companions, we feel responsible to them and for them. I think you have great veterinary support for Mr. Bowie and hopefully you are feeling the support you have from your friends, no matter how distant. You and Mr. Bowie will come through this.

    • Thank you so much for your support and heartwarming comment, Angela. It means a lot getting so much response from all over the world. I wish there was a way to explain this to Mr. Bowie… 😉
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

  20. We’re all so glad that Mr. Bowie came through surgery just fine. Yes, let’s pray for the healing and that it will be quick. Let’s also pray that the other eye will decide it doesn’t need to have that stupid infection. Poor Mr. Bowie needs to have some calm and peaceful days and so does his Dad!!
    Stereo purrs……..Hemingway and Steinbeck
    Hugs……..Pam

  24. Oh Poor Mr Bowie – and You!
I’ve been away a long time and have missed all your trials. Going to read up now.
I’m just glad Mr Bowie is back home and can rest and recover now – as can you!
    One step at a time.

I discovered my dog Little Monkey has an autoimmune eye disease (pannus) just before i went away. You can’t treat it, but can slow it down with eye cream. It seems to be helping. As she’s already 12, I hope that we can stave off her going blind in her lifetime.
It is a shock when our pets develop diseases as we just want the best for them, and for them to be healthy and happy.
All the best for Mr Bowie’s eventual recovery and full health.

    • Hi there, my dear friend! So sorry to hear about Little Monkey’s eye disease… Wishing you all the best and hopefully you can slow down the proces with good medicines.
You are so right. It’s very hard to see our pets develop diseases. I wish we could do more to help them…

Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

    • Thank you so much, Inese! Unfortunately, the healing is going very slow… But we are keeping our fingers and paws crossed for good results next week!
Hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!

    • Thank you, Inese. I’m giving Mr. Bowie a special additional power supply twice a day but he doesn’t like the taste of it…

    • Thank you so much, Hedy! Hope you had (or having) a wonderful weekend! I loved your latest post.

Going to the hospital with Mr. Bowie for another check up later this week. Let’s hope for good results!

      • It’s difficult dealing with ill critters I’ve had to heal my big dog from vaccine damage…costly and time consuming but I love this mutt and I think we’ve just about got it all under control hard to witness suffering 🤓 sending good vibes I used massage, acupuncture, reiki and lots of love 💘💫

  25. Oh no!😿 in sorry Mr.Bowie isn’t feeling well – try to get some rest – Thank you fur being such a kind human to him!

    • Hi there, my dear friend! Thank you so much for your kind comment. Don’t you worry, I’ll take good care of my furry friend.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!

      • I’m sure he’ll be back to normal soon – sorry I haven’t come by much – the Creature has a new baby sister (and A NEW baby cousin born September 23)! I tell you those creatures have my nerves shot!! 🙀

        • No problemo, my dear friend! Thank you so much for hanging around all these years.
Mr. Bowie says he’s ready to help you concerning the Creatures issue if necessary… 😉

PS: congrats for the new Creature! I’m so happy for the humans!

          • I always love reading about Mr. Bowie – I just have a crazy schedule now – I may take Mr. Bowie up on that offer!! 😹

The humans around here are nuts about these Creatures -(but then, they are only human)!!😹

            • Haha… Take good care of your humans and their Creatures. Be sure to cover their backs… 🙂
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” and sends his regards!
