Rain Rain Rain

Rain smashing hard against the window. Mr. Bowie cancelled his field trip in the garden due to heavy rain. By way of precaution, he crawled for shelter under the table.

I enjoy the sound of rain on the windows and the roof. I have become a very light sleeper, completely off sleep medication for about a month and the sound of rain helps me fall asleep at night.

Enjoy this beautiful day, my friends, wherever you are. Peace, love and understanding.

  1. After 56cm of snow here the past two days, today is a great time NOT to go outside since I have no reason to. Mr. Bowie has the right idea, and so do you: Enjoy a quiet day inside.

  2. I enjoy the sound of rain too. Although not quite the same you might want to get little sound machine with various nature sounds including rain. Sleep well my friends.

  3. No reason to field trip in the rain. Did you play “Strawberry Field Forever” for him and tell him to imagine fields of catnip going on forever? Or you could play “Imagine” and have him “Imagine all the catnip Living for Mr. Bowie…”

    • Thank you for a very good playlist, Tim. Got all the songs in iTunes and it seems Mr. Bowie likes these song more than the songs I wrote… πŸ˜‰

      • You know how family don’t always take other family member’s creative work seriously? The same goes for cats and their owners. What Mr. Bowie thinks or doesn’t think about your music may not be a good gage of the quality.

  4. I so agree with you. I Love the sound of rain especially at night and especially now in the middle of our dry season. I would love to hear it. I have to settle for the wind in the trees – almost as good. πŸ™‚
I’m sorry Mr Bowie had to curtail his excursion, but maybe a treat or two will cheer him up. πŸ™‚
I wish you peaceful dreams. πŸ™‚

  5. Love the sound of rain…..don’t like the sound of WIND with the rain but “just” rain is quite soothing. I hope Mr. Bowie was able to go on his field trip once the rain stopped. The smell of a garden after it rains is delightful too – not QUITE as delightful as the smell of espresso and dark chocolate BUT it will do!

    Pam

    • So true, Pam, the smell of a garden after the rain is wonderful but we prefer the smell of espresso too! Hmm, I think I’m going to make me a fresh one right now…

  6. Glad your sleep problems are getting sorted, Herman. You should ask Mr. Bowie to give you a workshop on that matter.
Very wise of Mr. Bowie to double the precautions. What a grand example he is. xx

  7. I found a fellow on YouTube who does 12 hour sound tracks. While many are sounds I wouldn’t use for anything he just did one of a purring cat which really did work for drifting off to sleep. He also had one of foghorns I really love. I hope the rain will get your nice garden off to a good start, it’s certainly better than having to shovel. I followed that wet cat archive link. You must have been a wreck worrying about Mr. Bowie. I’m glad he’s such a smart boy and found safe if not dry shelter.

    • Hi Angela. Last week, I was searching on YouTube myself for relaxing sounds and I was surprised to find so many different audio clips… I love the foghorn idea, it takes me back to my childhood vacations by the sea…
You are so right about having to shovel, I prefer having an espresso instead!

I was so worried during that summer storm years ago. I had no idea where Mr. Bowie was hiding. I tried to find him but it was too dangerous to stay outside. Thank goodness there was a happy ending!

  8. The bedraggled Mr. Bowie from 2013 is very sweet (perhaps not to him…) Your thoughts on rain sounds really resonate- as a child and teen my family and I spent many happy times at a cabin in the Adirondack mountains of Upstate NY. Rain storms were thrilling; sweeping across the lake, sometimes with lightening strikes and thunder; always with the amazing sounds on the roof- to which I once referred as like “a thousand tiny drummers…” Hugs to you and Mr. B πŸ™‚

    • Hi Christine! “A thousand tiny drummers…” I love that expression! Weatherman says it will rain tonight so I guess I’ll be hearing a lot of tiny drummers…

Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  9. It is snowing here this morning, Herman. I think it is supposed to change over to rain this afternoon, but we are getting a slushy frosting on everything. Hope you and Mr. Bowie have a safe and treat-filled day inside where it is warm and dry!

Cats have the sleep thing down! Ours have no problem falling asleep, and they do snore, even Mr. Nano. πŸ™‚

    • Oh no… SNOW…!! The horror… the horror! Hard to believe spring is just around the corner… πŸ˜‰

I’m ready to watch a spy movie on the tv. Guess Mr. Bowie will be joining me but he always falls asleep after 3 minutes. Sometimes I have to pull up the volume because he snores so loud…

Hope you’re having a wonderful Sunday! Mr. Bowie sends his regards!

      • Having a good start to the morning here. 39 degrees, warmer than it has been in the morning the last few days. The cherry tree garden already has shoots coming up!

    • Haha…!! Thanks for another view on this subject, my dear friend. Much appreciated!
Hope you’re having a marvellous week. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  10. Hi Mr Bowie, we’ve just dedicated a post to you. You should get a ping back if our human slave has done it properly. Kindest regards and treats from Misty and Bluejohn.

  11. Mom likes the patter of rain, too. Mr. Bowie, you probably figured you would be safest under the table in case the roof leaked. Your human should pay attention to you. MOL!!
    Stereo purrs……….Hemingway and Steinbeck

    • Thank you so much for your good advice, my dear friends… I’ll keep it in mind!
      Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  12. Ah yes, the rain does have a lovely lull. I’m glad it helped you sleep too my friend. So much better than a pill. I wish I could smell the freshness in your beautiful garden afterward. I hope Mr Bowie was happily tip-toeing thru the garden in no time. All you need now is a little sunshine and the Nepeta should be growing-up well ❀
