A Cat Thing

Favourite Spot – Black & White Photo Challenge, Day 4. I had to convince Mr. Bowie to participate in the Black & White Photo Challenge. Here’s Mr. Bowie at his favourite spot. Just like in the movies, where mobsters always drink coffee on the sidewalk, Mr. Bowie likes to sit in the doorway. For hours. What is it with cats and doorways? Is this just a “cat thing”?

  1. I think it is a kind of to take control of the door 🙂 Like a body guard… But Mr. Bowie is the best one. Thank you, Blessing and Happiness, love, nia

  2. Indeed it is the only way to make sure that whoever enters has treats..and whoever leaves..well has treats….looking gorgeous Mr Bowie..:) hugs Fozziemum 🙂

  3. I think he’s standing there to say “enter only after depositing a treat in the door guard’s mouth!”…….paying a toll is only right before crossing the threshold into Mr. Bowie’s domain…… 😉

    • Well, that’s what cats do, they will mess with our minds…!!
Thank you, Mary J. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  4. Another lovely portrait of the handsome Mr. Bowie. You were closer to the mark than you know with that bit about mobsters Herman. Like the mobsters, cats want to keep tabs on everything in their territory and watch from a convenient location where they can retreat quickly in case of trouble. I seem to recall Mr. Bowie having somecat trying to “move in on his territory” at one point.

  5. He does get to see it all from there, and it is his territory, with humans going in and out. MaChatte has a favorite window where she can see the street, and I tell her she’s the mayor of the street. Mr. Bowie is probably the mayor there too. 🙂

  6. Mr. Bowie looks very Presidential… Doorsteps for cats must be the equivalent of people sitting on their porch, watching the world go by, visiting with those passing by.

  7. Yes it is a cat thing, my Moshu does exactly the same, although there is a screen at the door. She has only three legs, and I am so afraid to let her go out, because of some limitations. But she sits at the door for hours, sunbathing and guarding the world.

    • Thank you, Sharon! There are a lot of black birds in the garden. Mr. Bowie doesn’t like black birds… 😉

  8. Hahaha! Bo has several favorite spots – in the bin that contains woolen scarves, next to the lamp where it’s warm – the list goes on! I hope Mr Bowie has a good vantage point from which to review his kingdom! Ellie

    • Mr. Bowie got secret places to hide when he’s outside (and wants to stay outside). Sometimes I just can’t find him…

  9. It’s definitely a cat thing. Simon drives me crazy sometimes–sits and stares for hours it seems and then swats/wags his tail (loudly) at the smallest thing that moves. Simon wouldn’t make a very good hunter in reality. I’m sure Mr Bowie would. 🙂

  10. Badda-Bing…you’s can sit where ever you’s want der, Mr Bowie !

Sometimes Petals will reach out to getcha when you walk by her, LOL. Little rascal pretends to be just sitting there, then BAM! Just like Tony S 😉

  11. I love how proud he sits. I had a wonderful cat who would guard like a diligent sentry any opening to the house. He would go mad in the summer dashing from windows to doors. I have a British Blue that looks like Mr Bowie she’s called Bronte.

    • Hi Pamela, welcome on HoB. Guess your neighbourhood must be a lot safer now with the cats watching it… 😉

  12. Maybee Mistur Bowie an all katss fink “Let hee or shee who enterss here abandon all hope beecause thee force of thee Kittie will win over…”
