Favourite Spot – Black & White Photo Challenge, Day 4. I had to convince Mr. Bowie to participate in the Black & White Photo Challenge. Here’s Mr. Bowie at his favourite spot. Just like in the movies, where mobsters always drink coffee on the sidewalk, Mr. Bowie likes to sit in the doorway. For hours. What is it with cats and doorways? Is this just a “cat thing”?
Saves having to make a decision…
Like the Clash song, ‘Should I Stay Or Should I Go’…
I think it is a kind of to take control of the door 🙂 Like a body guard… But Mr. Bowie is the best one. Thank you, Blessing and Happiness, love, nia
I’m so lucky with Mr. Bowie looking after me… 🙂
Thank you, Nia!
you are both lucky 🙂
Oh yes we are!
Mr Bowie you handsome fella.
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
Oh wow, he looks purrfect! Such a handsome cat .. Grace sends her love 😀
Well, Mr. Bowie is blushing right now…!! 😉
Lol!
Indeed it is the only way to make sure that whoever enters has treats..and whoever leaves..well has treats….looking gorgeous Mr Bowie..:) hugs Fozziemum 🙂
Thank you, Fozziemum! I always have to pass Mr. Bowie to get to my chocolate…
Ahh yes and the guilt of the chocolate itself brings treats…wise kitty ….wise wise kitty 🙂
So true!!
Haahahah 🙂
De baas in huis, dat zie je zo!
Daar moet je niet aan twijfelen…!!
I think he’s standing there to say “enter only after depositing a treat in the door guard’s mouth!”…….paying a toll is only right before crossing the threshold into Mr. Bowie’s domain…… 😉
Pam (and Sam)
That’s why I always carry cat treats in my pocket… 😉
Cats like to sit in doorways? I though cats like to sit in shower stalls? I’m so confused!
As usual, great photo, Herman, of a very handsome boy.
Well, that’s what cats do, they will mess with our minds…!!
Thank you, Mary J. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
Another lovely portrait of the handsome Mr. Bowie. You were closer to the mark than you know with that bit about mobsters Herman. Like the mobsters, cats want to keep tabs on everything in their territory and watch from a convenient location where they can retreat quickly in case of trouble. I seem to recall Mr. Bowie having somecat trying to “move in on his territory” at one point.
Thank you, Angela! I believe Mr. Bowie has the territory situation under control…
He does get to see it all from there, and it is his territory, with humans going in and out. MaChatte has a favorite window where she can see the street, and I tell her she’s the mayor of the street. Mr. Bowie is probably the mayor there too. 🙂
Oh yes, he (Mr. Mayor) decides he goes in or out… 😉
A great spot to watch the world go by. My dog does the same. A particularly beautiful photo.
Thank you, Letizia!
He looks like he was pretty willing in the end. Nice portrait of Mr Bowie.
Thank you, Timothy. Mr. Bowie lets you go inside for only one cat treat…
I like what animalcouriers has to say about it. 🙂
So true and wise…!!
Maybe Mr. Bowie decides who get to come inside? 😉
You can bribe him if you got the right cat treats in your pocket… 🙂
I love to sit on the doorstep and watch too – I like to be a gargoyle!! MOL!
Ha ha ha…!! I wonder if we can bribe you with some tuna…
Oh I’m ALWAYS open to some tuna…,
Mr. Bowie looks very Presidential… Doorsteps for cats must be the equivalent of people sitting on their porch, watching the world go by, visiting with those passing by.
So true. My seat on the terrace is just around that corner, with a beautiful view of my garden.
Cats never know which side of the door they should be on. Just let a cat through one and see.
Mr. Bowie prefers that I leave the door open… even in the winter.
Is he hiding a cat weapon? He has kind of a Bugsy/ Capone-look in the eye…
When he meows it sounds like “Your money or a cat treat”. But maybe it is just my imagination…
That photo is priceless! What a great pose Mr. Bowie!
Thank you, Tracy! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
He’s waiting for his payola. (Catnip stuffed into an envelop.)
Ah! Thank you, David. Now we know how to bribe Mr. Bowie…!! 🙂
Quite like this picture. It almost looks like an old photo, though I couldn’t tell you why.
Thank you, Julie. Maybe it’s because I added a bit of grain to this photo.
Yes it is a cat thing, my Moshu does exactly the same, although there is a screen at the door. She has only three legs, and I am so afraid to let her go out, because of some limitations. But she sits at the door for hours, sunbathing and guarding the world.
It’s relaxing for the humans to see how their cats keep an eye on the world around us…
What a lovely photo of Mr Bowie checking his subjects. 😀
Thank you, Sharon! There are a lot of black birds in the garden. Mr. Bowie doesn’t like black birds… 😉
Hahaha! Bo has several favorite spots – in the bin that contains woolen scarves, next to the lamp where it’s warm – the list goes on! I hope Mr Bowie has a good vantage point from which to review his kingdom! Ellie
Mr. Bowie got secret places to hide when he’s outside (and wants to stay outside). Sometimes I just can’t find him…
It’s definitely a cat thing. Simon drives me crazy sometimes–sits and stares for hours it seems and then swats/wags his tail (loudly) at the smallest thing that moves. Simon wouldn’t make a very good hunter in reality. I’m sure Mr Bowie would. 🙂
Ha ha ha… I can see the picture! Sometimes I have to push Mr. Bowie outside when I want to close the door. And 7 seconds later, he wants to come back inside.
LOL…just like a child…cannot make up his mind. That’s funny. Simon doesn’t go outside and I’m not sure he would come back it he could 🙂
Mr. Bowie can’t escape. There’s a cat proof fence around the garden.
Poor Mr Bowie. Having uninvited guests can be frightening. It is a very nice setup you have. I love what your b-i-l did to the fence. Mr Bowie knows how good he has it. I think Simon could find a way out of anything… Mr Bowie is loyal; Simon—-not so much. 😉 I wish I could be Mr Bowie…he is so loved and pampered… he lives the life! 🙂 Take care!
Thank you! Living a life like Mr. Bowie… that’s like living in paradise! 🙂
Definitely! 🙂
Badda-Bing…you’s can sit where ever you’s want der, Mr Bowie !
Sometimes Petals will reach out to getcha when you walk by her, LOL. Little rascal pretends to be just sitting there, then BAM! Just like Tony S 😉
Never underestimate a cat with the moves of Tony S!
I love how proud he sits. I had a wonderful cat who would guard like a diligent sentry any opening to the house. He would go mad in the summer dashing from windows to doors. I have a British Blue that looks like Mr Bowie she’s called Bronte.
Hi Lore! Welcome on HoB, thank you for visiting the blog! I like your cat’s name…
They are guardians of what can come in and what can come out.
And where they sit belongs to them, without a shadow of a doubt!
So true. They are not going anywhere if you want to pass them…
It is a cat thing! All my cats have always done this and my current crew do so every day. I signed them up for the neighborhood watch program. 😉
Hi Pamela, welcome on HoB. Guess your neighbourhood must be a lot safer now with the cats watching it… 😉
Maybee Mistur Bowie an all katss fink “Let hee or shee who enterss here abandon all hope beecause thee force of thee Kittie will win over…”
