Introducing the Minimoog Voyager. The recording studio still needed a finishing touch. After 2 months waiting patiently, the Minimoog Voyager finally arrived yesterday! All Moog instruments are lovingly handcrafted by real people. The Minimoog Voyager Performer Edition is an all-analog performance synthesizer that incorporates the features and incredible sonic range of the original Minimoog, while adding a vast number of new functional improvements to its design. Many people feel that the Minimoog is probably the best analog synth ever built. Minimoog Voyager users include: Herbie Hancock, Rick Wakeman, Chick Corea, Bernie Worrell, Brian Eno, Stevie Wonder and Mr. Bowie.
The minor issues regarding the communication between the MIDI interface and the synthesizers are almost solved. I met a specialist in a music store who probably knows how to fix a remaining problem. Meanwhile, Mr. Bowie seems to be quite enthusiastic about the new Moog synth. And the big boxes. I liked the Bob Moog quote on the box.
“To be human, to be fully human, is to need music and to derive nourishment from the music you hear. What you do with our instruments helps us to be more human too, and I want to thank you all for that.”
I love the quote too, Herman. It would be an extremely boring life without music, the artists that bring music to life, and cats with big boxes.
So true, Mary J.
Mr. Bowie likes the part about the big boxes in your comment!
Congrats, really beautiful system.
Thank you, my friend! I’m so happy with the Minimoog…
nice!!!
Thanks!
Yes, I agree with you, Moog, and Bikerchick57. Life is nothing without music, and without cats, who would know where we humans would be?
Without cats…?? It would be a catastrophe!! 😉
Very cool. I can’t wait to here some tunes. You can add Chromeo to the list of Minimoog owners. If you don’t know Chromeo, look up Old 45’s, Needy Girl, Jealous, Night by Night, etc. on Youtube. It’s pretty good music, mostly synth. Here’s the thing with Chromeo, though, the lead singer/guitarist is the doppelgänger of a young man who worked for us for years. They look so much alike, we could not convince the boss that the guy singing in Needy Girl was really not our staff member.
Thank you, Timothy! Love your story about the doppelgänger, so funny.
I had never heard about Chromeo. I checked them out on Wikipedia and YouTube. They wrote some funky and catchy pop songs… I read their album ‘White Women’ was on 82 (peak chart position) last year in the Flemish part of Belgium.
Maybe the great musical duo of Mr. Bowie and Herman can do an album called “Gray Cats”! Wait a minute, maybe you should call your duo “Gray Cats” and name the album “Fifteen Shades of Gray Cats” (a shade of gray cat per cut) — add in some “Catabilly” to the mix of musical styles and you will surely have a hit! 😉
BTW Do you remember the original music video of “Love Cats” by the Cure? I loved that video, but the original video is not available in the US last time I checked.
We could use that name but, oh my goodness… I have to write 15 songs!! Does it help if I read the Fifty Shades book first, or go to the movie next week…?? 😉
We can see the “Love Cats” clip on YouTube.
Make it 5 songs, doesn’t really matter as long as it has a five in it, I think! I don’t know that the book or movie will help. I heard the book was really poorly written. But what does that matter if it sells? I get an “uploader not available in your country” message on the “Love Cat”s video.
That’s weird… We have all the Cure videos available on YouTube. I’ll write a song about it, song number 1… 😉
Cut Number One “Love Gray Cats”. I get those errors every once in a while on videos.
Thanks for giving me the name of the first song of the album!
I can come up with song titles all day. I can write some lyrics if you like, just don’t ask me to put a tune to my words. 😉
Now you’ll soon be all in business! GO Herman! And what a nice box to explore. It’s a good day.
Everybody’s happy these days…
🙂 What awesomeness!!!! Sigh…thoughts…hmmmmm. OK, back to reality 😀 . Have fun!
Thank you! Go get yourself a good fresh cup of coffee…
Thanks! Will do. You and Mr Bowie… enjoy your weekend and Simon is saying meeee-owww… really. 😀
Mr. Bowie says “Meow!” back. Please enjoy your weekend too…
Mr. Bowie is right up there with the all-time greats! I can’t wait to hear what he comes up with on the Minimoog! Sounds like you are really enjoying your system, Herman. Good to hear! 🙂
Thank you, Lavinia! I’m having the time of my live, and Mr. Bowie too… 😉
Congrats! Love the quote too! I don’t know what I would do without music, it feeds my soul every day 🙂
Thank you! Music has been always so important for me, playing it and listening to it…
Congratulations on your recent purchase, looks like you’re in excellent company. Sounds like you might actually have to read the user guide. I seldom do but usually wish I had when I can’t find it later 😉 I think Mr Bowie can’t wait for you to hook it up so he can claim the box xo
Thank you, Boomdee! We all love reading those manuals, especially the ones about electronic gear… 😉
Mr. Bowie is in heaven, a boxed heaven…
great quote and beautiful looking instrument. Past and present combined with wood finishes. ❤
Thank you, Sharon. I really love the look (and sound) of this instrument. So beautiful! A dream that has come true.
Can almost see the smile on your face Herman.
Ha ha ha… You are so right! I’m so happy. After waiting for years, I own a Minimoog… a dream that finally has come true!
Wonderful! the wife of a musician and the mother of three musos get’s that sentiment exactly! hugs Fozziemum
Thank you, Fozziemum! There must be a lot of music in your house…
Not as much as when the boys all lived at home 🙂 but xmas gets rowdy 😉
I’ll send you our Mr. Bowie/Herman new cd as soon as possible… 😉
Most excellent 🙂 does it come with plectrums to put in the washing machine and dryer..and everywhere else…;)
I’m having flashbacks! Ha ha ha… I’ll keep this in mind… 🙂
Urghh so am I …at least now it is only hubbies plectrums…and I also have no drumsticks lying round to be chewed by cats…at least the girls still can line up for string changing time 🙂 a fave pastime 🙂
Mr Bowie looks as though he may be contemplating whether he should become fully human via music. 😉 Either that or fully cat via a new box.
I think he will go for the new big box… 🙂
Can he make it into a boom box? 😉
Ha ha ha… why did’n I think of that! 🙂
Wonderful Herman. We are music lovers here too. Will we get a theme song for Mr. Bowie?
Thank you, Angela! I’m still working on that theme song for Mr. Bowie… 😉
Mr. Bowie looks anxious to get started helping out with the new equipment……they say “music soothes the savage beast” but there’s nothing savage about Mr. Bowie……is there???
Pam
No Pam, there’s nothing savage about Mr. Bowie… Just give him a big box once in a while…
That’s what I thought! With a face like his – savage definitely isn’t on the radar…… 🙂
Thanks! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
What beautiful equipment. And a box for Mr. Bowie. Will you “rock the house” or sooth the soul? I am not familiar with the term minimoog, but I am going to find out. Enjoy your purchase and, I know Mr.Bowie is happy with his new box. The cats that walked thru life with me adored a box or a paper bag.
Thank you, Ettel. We are all happy overhere, I got an instrument I wanted for years and Mr. Bowie got another big box… So funny that all cats like boxes!
Great quote. You must be thrilled at having this.
Oh yes, Julie. I had an original Minimoog model D years ago but I had to sell it. I was dreaming for years to buy me a new one…
