July 26 is the 207th day of the year in the Gregorian calendar. There are 158 days remaining until the end of the year. Mr. Bowie’s Gotcha Day was a week ago. My birthday was a week ago. Unfortunately, we had to make the difficult decision to postpone the party and move it to July 26.
Fact #1: As a self-confessed perfectionist, Mr. Bowie couldn’t wait to impress his first party guests with hospitality. Mr. Bowie was responsible for greeting and welcoming guests. A guest’s first impression is even more critical these days because of social media. The human made his Wi-Fi network available for everyone.
Fact #2: All guests received a special badge. These badges gave the guests special privileges at the dessert buffet. No party is complete without a table filled with chocolate mousse, pudding, cake, ice cream, blueberries and fresh fruit salad.
Fact #3: The best festive drinks. Just like last year, the fabulous vodka cocktail recipe and the intense Gato Negro Chardonnay from Chile made the Gotcha Day party a delicious success. It was hard to convince Mr. Bowie to only drink water. We all deal with setbacks, Mr. Bowie, but we can overcome them.
Fact #4: Party crashers beware! Whether the concern is party crashers or paparazzi, security is a smart way to create a safe and comfortable environment for Mr. Bowie’s guests. My 89-year-old Dad got back on his bike to come to the party and he entertained a famous Belgian celebrity.
Fact #5: Mr. Bowie loves kids! Mr. Bowie didn’t leave the kids alone at the party. He was prepared and took care of them. Mr. Bowie took the kids for a walk and he even gave away his favourite football cards.
Fact #6: Precautionary measures were taken. Last year, kids formed a coalition and kicked my ass during a water fight. This time, a powerful water gun was safely hidden away from the kids.
Fact #7: Never lose sight of your cake. Never lose sight of Mr. Bowie. We did.
Thank you all for showing up that day. You gave me such a wonderful time. I love you all.
Dear HoB visitors and followers, I deeply appreciate your kindness in reading, following and leaving comments on my blog posts. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
PS: No photographic evidence, sorry. Totally forgot to take photos of the main dessert buffet table but I can assure you it was delicious!
Love you all…it was a cosy party!!!
Bedankt voor het ‘lenen’ van een paar foto’s!
That looks a lovely party, what a fine day for Mr. Bowie! Sorry to miss out on the photos of delicious desserts. Oh well, there’s always next year! 🙂
I was too busy and too nervous but I did enjoy the party (and the drinks), though… 😉
You lost sight of Mr Bowie! He knew where he was at. 😉
Well, he liked the crème au beurre (butter cream) on the cake…
Ah, the cat got the cream.
… and he left the cake for the guests! 😉
Always a true gentlecat.
Oh yes, he is!
Ha! Mr. Bowie got after that cake while you were busy with the Chardonnay and vodka. He knew when to attack.
I underestimated Mr. Bowie, even after a relationship of 5 years…
Never underestimate a cat, Herman. I think that’s feline rule #1. 😉
Some thing I’ll never forget for the rest of my life…
What a fabulous party. I feel as if I’m right there among your guests. Happy Birthday!
Thank you, Catherine. Much appreciated!
Looks like it was a great party! Love the picture of the little girl! A priceless expression! Ellie
Thank you, Ellie! That’s Alicia, the lovely little daughter of my next door neighbours. She loves Mr. Bowie…
It looks like the postponement gave you a beautiful day. In spite of the cute water bowl, water doesn’t carry the equivalent of those lovely drinks, but it looks like the cake made up for it. So glad your celebration was a success and thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Angela! Guess the cake was Mr. Bowie’s payback time or his sweet butter cream revenge…
It looks like a good time was had by all. And if Mr. Bowie got a little of the butter cream, there were still plenty of goodies for all the humans. Belated Happy Birthday to you and Gotcha Day to Mr. Bowie. It was good that he and you both Gotcha, cos you two are a good pair.
Thank you for this warm comment, my dear friend. Mr. Bowie didn’t like the vanilla ice cream but it seems he loved the butter cream. I prefer vanilla ice cream with blueberries on top…
Everybody seemed to find good things they liked! Your father looks like he’s doing well, good. You’re welcome; I love to ready about the adventures of you and His Gorgeousness.
Oh yes! My Dad is a very healthy man… who loves lots of ice cream flavours! And chocolate mousse of course…
That chocolate thingee runs in families. 🙂
Ha ha ha… It’s in our DNA !
It looks like it was a wonderful party with such thoughtful details! How sweet of Mr. Bowie to show the children around the beautiful garden. Did your father really come by bicycle??
Thank you, Letizia! Yes, my Dad came by bicycle but he lives just around the corner, kinda speaking. Everyone present was surprised about this fact…
That’s great to be so well at his age- May we all age so gracefully! Hope you had a great birthday Herman 🙂
I was feeling nervous and stressed in the beginning but all things worked out fine. I had a great time in good company…
How nice of you to share this with us all 🙂
Glad to see Mr B was prepared for gatecrashers . He knew which side his cake was buttered …
My pleasure, Poppytump! Concerning the cake, we were all diverted by a smart Mr. Bowie…
Party on HOB! Some kodak moments once missed are gone forever, but a dessert buffet, sounds like a good excuse to have another one! =^,,^=
…’to have another one!’ That’s a sure thing…
Happy Belated Birthday and Happy Gotcha Day!
Mr. Bowie, cats can’t have cake.
Thank you, Sarah. Much appreciated!
True. Mr. Bowie should stick with his special diet food! I’ll take care of that cake…
YUM! Thank you for sharing! Many happy returns to you all. Now may I have another piece of cake, please. One piece was not enough. –Bugs
Oh thank you, my dear Bugs! But I’m so sorry, my sister got the last two pieces of that delicious cake… There are still blueberries left over…
And happy many returns !
Thank you very much, Vera!
Your Dad looks like one of the most fun people alive.
Oh yes, he’s a wonderful guy! Wish we all could live so long…
Looks like a fabulous time! Mr. Bowie did a great job of hosting and your Dad seem to be having a grand time! Thanks for sharing!
Marty and Mom
You are welcome, my dear friends! Thanks for hanging around HoB.
A fabulous party. Everyone looks fantastic. The last photo made me laugh.
Thank you, J.L. We were all laughing when a party guest said ‘Hey, see what Mr. Bowie’s doing…’ I had to take this photo!
It looks like a wonderful sunny day – just right for celebrating even if it was a bit late! Hope it was special for both of you……I think it was because you celebrated with fun, friends and food……Happy LATE Gotcha and Birthday to you boys……….

Thank you, Pam. Much appreciated! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
Wow, awesome party, Mr. B’s a perfect greeter♥
Mr. Bowie lifted a lot of the burden from my shoulders…
Happy birthday, happy Gotcha Day and wow to your dad for bicycling over! Good parties leave behind more than crumbs and spilled drinks. I’m sure you and Bowie are still basking in the love in the air around your garden. July 26 was also a big birthday here, but it was celebrated with naps.
Thank you, Bernadette. My Dad and Mr. Bowie were the stars of the party, and rightly so.
Sorry for missing your celebration post… Well, napping is also a fine way of celebrating something! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”
This is amazing blog! I can’t help I have to laugh : )))))))))
