I’m Okay

Receiving a wrong diagnosis can be devastating. If the diagnosis is wrong, the treatment will be wrong. But taking the time to get a second opinion – or in Mr. Bowie’s case a third opinion – about the diagnosis you have and a careful evaluation of what treatments there are can be a relief.
Today, I took Mr. Bowie back to Natalie, an experienced cat dermatologist. She performed some medical tests for Mr. Bowie’s comprehensive medical check-up concerning his ear problem. Replacing Mr. Bowie’s food 3 months ago with a hypoallergenic food seems to have solved the problem. At last, after a long 2 years of receiving a wrong diagnosis, time after time…

Meanwhile, Mr. Bowie is outside enjoying the sunshine and recovering from the car ride.

Update: WordPress says: “Congratulations on writing 1.337 total posts on Hands on Bowie.” Huh…??

  1. Happy to hear Mr. Bowie is doing well. Getting the right diagnosis can be such an issue sometimes for both people people and kitty people. Any sign of your new car?

  2. We’re so glad that Mr. Bowie is feeling better! He’s looking GOOD! What a beautiful boy! 🙂 xoxo Roxy & Tigerlino

P.S. WordPress sometimes is strange… why are they congratulating you on writing 1.337 total posts!? What an odd number to celebrate… That doesn’t make sense at all! 😕

  3. Good to hear about Mr Bowie, my vet wrongly diagnosed my cat a few years ago, totally missing her High blood pressure took several visits to a specialist to sort her out. He sure is looking good on his new food.

    • Thank you, Torchgirl. Glad we have found a solution for his ear problem. Thank you for hanging around HoB. Much appreciated!

    • Hi there, Savannah! I’m happy myself now that I have found a very good specialist, Natalie, an experienced cat dermatologist. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  4. So glad you finally got to the bottom of Mr. Bowie’s ear problem- nothing like the right food to heal us all (chocolate for all… except Mr. Bowie who will get hypoallergenic mice…)

  5. Oh yes what great news for you that his problem is done and he can be a happy cat! And you can be happy and not have to worry about what’s up with him. Enjoy the spring, both of you.

    • Yeah! We are sure going to join the spring… and the summer too! Thank you so much for all your tweets about HoB. As always, much appreciated! Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

      • You’re so welcome. I just go in every couple days and do a bunch of tweeting, lol. I’ve begun some minor gardening, trying not to rush it, glad to have it warmer.

    • Thank you! We’re so happy that we’re finally going in the right direction, after 2 years trying so many things…

  6. Oh that’s SUCH good news! Poor Bowie had to suffer with those ear problems for a long time but now “hearing is believing” !! Enjoy the sun Mr. Bowie…..and Dr. Sam prescribes dark chocolate for Herman to celebrate!

  7. We are so happy to hear the problem is solved. Mosby, Tony and Mini all had allergies improved by diet change. Mosby says to tell Mr. Bowie’ he understands completely, he had ear trouble as well.

  8. So glad to hear you finally found out what the issue was. So happy to know that Mr. Bowie is feeling better!

    • Thank you, Sarah. I’m so happy that we finally found a solution after 2 long years of ear problems. Mr. Bowie will have to get medication (ear drops) twice a week, probably for the rest of his life but we can life with that…

  9. (EN)Ears of cats are so sensitive …. glad Mr Bowie is ok.
    Meow from my cats.

    • We’re thinking about Archie and wishing him a very good recovery. Bowie says “Meow!” Sending you lots of purrs.

  11. I am glad you kept going. I had a similar situation and found out that cats are allergic to corn, and do not process it well as they are not designed to process corn. It causes diabetes in cats after prolonged exposure according to the CSU Vet center.

    • Thanks for your comment and sharing your story. I’m so glad I kept looking for a solution, even if it took me 2 years…

  12. That is just fantastic Herman. Finally! Such a long road to health for Mr Bowie. Thank goodness for Natalie’s help. I’m Really happy for you both. It’s misery when your pet is suffering in any way.

Your photo is like looking thru a nice glass of Leffe Blonde, Cheers guys!

    • Thank you, Boomdee. I’m so happy too. Mr. Bowie will have to get his medication (ear drops) twice a week, probably for the rest of his life but I can life with that.

‘Leffe Blonde’… you have done your homework, my dear Boomdee!

    • Thank you, Janina. I’m having an espresso (with dark chocolate) right now as we speak. The only way to start a Sunday morning…

    • Thank you, Jackie! After 2 years of having troubles with his ear, the last 3 months were such a relieve…

      • I can imagine! It’s very hard to watch your furry one have such problems and not be able to find anything that helps. Persistence wins! Yay! 🙂

    • Thank you Marty and your Mom, much appreciated! Thanks for your comment and hanging around HoB. Mr. Bowie says “Meow!”

  13. I see you went to Google for 1337. I did the same thing!

I got a call yesterday from someone who just kept repeating “Mr Herman” over and over again. I thought it might be you calling to tell me you were in San Diego. After a couple of minutes, they hung up. I hope it wasn’t you, but if it was, call back!

    Glad to hear about Bowie.

    • Hi Russel. Thanks for spending so much time on HoB. Much appreciated, my friend!

It wasn’t me on the phone but I wish I was in San Diego. I like to go on vacation in the US of A but I got a fear of flying…
