Newsflash #4

We had something to celebrate last week. It was my dad’s 89th birthday. Dad is one of the oldest inhabitants of the village. Some local officials, dressed in traditional folkloric costumes, payed tribute to him last Sunday afternoon.
My dad is a World War II veteran, a devoted husband and caring father. As some of you know, lately, my dad’s life wasn’t easy. But he never gave up on life. Respect! Love you dad.

  1. I remember your Dad’s birthday last year – they visited him then as well right? Amazingly interesting cosdtumes but the BEST thing is that you have your Dad – he looks GREAT!

    • Thank you, Pam. My Dad is still in a very good condition and health. We are planning a special celebration for his 90th birthday next year…

  2. Congratulations to your Dad on this birthday! So many of his generation didn’t make it through the horrors of 40s and the deprivations of the 50-60s. To me, the survivors are heroes!

  3. This makes my heart so happy to see your sweet dad get the recognition he so admirably deserves. The war took too many daddy’s, sons and husbands. Thank you to men like your dad who ensured we could continue to live with freedom from tyrannous monsters. Wonderful that your town takes time to acknowledge this too. I can see he had a big smile on his face. I’m glad for you that your dad was one of the men to return from war and you got to know, love and respect each other. Life is such a gift, I wish for your dad many more healthy and happy years, Hartelijk gefeliciteerd met je verjaardag!

  4. What a wonderful celebration for your dad…so lovely to see that age is no barrier to a good time…nothing but respect or those that fought for what they believed in ..a different world to the one we live in now and I wonder at how they see our treatment of each other in these so called modern times….Happy belated birthday to your dad and may his life still hold always a sense of fun and joy. Hugs Fozziemum xx
