About Today

Another day at the hospital. Mr. Bowie’s ear surgery went well today. The surgeons were looking for an aural polyp but instead they found another chunk of dirt pushing against the eardrum. It took a while but the chunk was successfully removed and a sample is sent to the laboratory for analysis. They also examined Mr. Bowie’s throat and nose but no problems were found.

For the moment, Mr. Bowie is a bit confused and disoriented but I’ll take good care of him.

I want to thank all of you for your comments, support and tuning in on HoB. I also want to thank Renate and the medical staff at Venhei Veterinary Hospital for their care and support.

  1. Mr. B, You do look rather dazed, but you will soon be feeling much better, especially now that all that dirt is finally out of your ear. We’ll be continuing our purr-a-thon; however, until we are sure you are 100 percent. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  2. Oh bless his heart…he does look confused and that ear is probably a bit sore (again)…..I know he’ll be happy to be back home if he isn’t already and here’s hoping that analysis just shows “dirt” and nothing more sinister. He certainly did get a lot of icky stuff stuck in that poor sweet ear of his! Hugs to both of you……

  3. Poor Mr. Bowie. But I hope he feels better once recovered from surgery, and I hope the lab sends back something to help him long term!!

  4. Hope that is the last of the dirt. But dirt is much better than a polyp, obviously, so that is good news. Speedy recovery, Mr. Bowie.

  5. Thank you for this update! Our best recovery wishes ( from me and my two cats ) for that big bundle of lovely fur called Mr. Bowie.

  6. Best wishes for a speedy recovery, Mr. Bowie. You definitely don’t look your usual well-put-together self in the carrier. It’s the same with us humans in similar circumstances. No one looks good in a hospital gown, just as no cat looks his or her best in a carrier after a medical procedure.

  7. Poor boy. May be it was this chunk of dirt that was the cause of all of Mr. Bowie’s problems. That’s better than a polyp. We’ll keep our paws crossed this solves it all. Treats for Mr. Bowie and chocolate cake for you, Herman.

  8. What on “earth” did Mr. Bee get into??? So glad to “hear” he’s out of it now. What on earth has got into me with all these puns? I apologize. I really mean to be saying: Poor old Mr. Bee. Poor old Mr. Thee. May all this bee beehind you now. Now I better quit writing before I get hit with another pun, and bee compelled to pass it on to you and your excellent readers. Let me be serious and sincere here now, which is what I meant to be when I started writing (you can see that didn’t last but two words). I am so hopeful this episode is now resolved. OK. No more puns. Love!

  9. There is nothing that tears at the heart like the vision of a disoriented cat, whose been thoroughly examined and tended by the vet. Dear, sweet Bowie, put on a Star Trek video, snuggle up with anything/ anyone you wish and feel better soon. Hugs, Christine, Dylan and Bagheera

  10. Poor baby! He looks like he’s so ready to go home, and he knows his Herman will take good care of him. Tell him he has a lot of fans thinking about him….and you.

  11. I hope you feel better soon Mr. Bowie! I also hope this will be the solution to fix the problem. You poor thing – you have been through enough already!

  12. Herman, you are such a good dad to Bowie. No doubt he will feel the love of your care and I sure hope that the removal of that chunk of dirt solves all of his ear problems.

  13. Hoping all is well at long last! Will be looking forward to seeing some happy photos when he has recovered. I wonder how he got all that dirt in the one ear?

  14. i very much hope mr. bowie will be ok. and you. i don’t know you, but i’m certain you must be worried and concerned about him and i know how that feels. so i hope that you will take care of yourself too! take care of each other! that’s what these lil creatures do so much for us, isn’t it?

  15. Awww, Mr. Bowie, I’m so glad your surgery went well. We complain about vets but it is nice to have good ones, isn’t it?
We are sending lots and lots of purrs for your prompt recovery. Maybe when you are completely recovered and the ear infection is history, you and Milou can throw an Internet pawty?
Lots of purrs from us three kitties and hugs from the humans.

  16. A chunk a’ dirt….how’d that get in there?!! Musta bin makin’ mud pies one day, when you weren’t looking, and decided to put some in his ear! LOL. The sorta thing I’d do….
    Hope he’s better now. 🙂

  17. OMG! Poor guy! He looks beside himself in the photo. I am so late catching up on the news, so sorry! I have been thinking of him and hoping it went well. I hope Mr. Bowie is feeling better by now. Meow!

  18. Awww, feel better soon Mr B.♥
Herman, if you’d like to try a holistic approach, get a bottle of colloidal silver. It clears up mild ear, nose, throat infections and prevents wax from forming. The sebum secreted in the ear canal attracts dirt and builds up. Stop the infection and Mr. B should be good to go.

Well best wishes to the both of you, be healthy wealthy and wise into the New Year!☼
