Here’s Johnny!

IMG_5016.1A cat flap in action. Mr. Bowie leers through the cat door I have installed, shouting “Here’s Johnny!”. I guess Mr. Bowie ad-libbed the line “Here’s Johnny!” in imitation of announcer Ed McMahon’s famous introduction of Johnny Carson on U.S. network NBC-TV’s long-running late night television program The Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson.

Or maybe Mr. Bowie remembers the famous scene from The Shining, when Jack Torrance has clearly gone mad and is chopping down the bathroom door with an axe to get to his wife… Should I be worried?

PS: Wish I bought an automatic Star Trek door…

    • Hi Caro! It took Mr. Bowie almost a week to get used to the cat door. Of course, there were always cat treats on the other side… 😉

  1. Weeeee, looks like fun. Now you don’t have to be the ‘Door Butler’ Herman. Did it take very long for Mr Bowie to want to use it? The first photo makes me laugh like crazy, maybe I had a little to much Saurian Brandy for breakfast 😉

    • Hi Boomdee! It took about a week to use it in both directions. Mr. Bowie was going in one direction from day two.

  2. That depends. How does he respond to catnip. Or kitty treats? Or a nice ear scratching? You may have to use the full range of your cat-pleasing skills to avoid mayhem!

  3. Oh, you are too funny Herman! You really had me laughing today!! I had the image of your beautiful garden turned into the maze at the end of The Shining with little Bowie crazily following you!

But Mr. Bowie is such a sweetie, he would never try to kill you….. but with Halloween coming up, just watch your back for a few days, ok? 😉

    • Thanks for warning me about Halloween, Letizia. You can never be too careful…

PS: I’ll avoid going outside in the garden the next days…

  4. The doors on Star Trek were actually opened and closed manually by people off camera. Our cats love the cat flap and shoot in and out of the patio like there was nothing in the way.

  5. Mr. Bowie, that is the cleanest cat door we have ever seen. Does your dad clean it everyday? Our door is electronic ’cause only three of us get to leave the catio. But mostly so the raccoons, possums, skunks and squirrels don’t come onto the catio. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

    • Hey my friends, I’m cleaning this door every hour! 😉
Glad that we have no raccoons, possums and skunks in this part of the world…
