500 Miles

“The air was soft, the stars so fine, the promise of every cobbled alley so great, that I thought I was in a dream.” – Jack Kerouac, On the Road, Part 1, Ch. 7

When I come home, oh I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the cat who comes back home to you
And if I grow old, well I know I’m gonna be
I’m gonna be the cat who’s growing old with you

But I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more
Just to be the cat who walked a 1000 miles
To fall down at your door

  1. Now sing-along with the Proclaimers:
Da d-da da, da d-da da, da d-da da, da d-da da
    Da-da-da dun-diddle un-diddle un-diddle a da da
Da d-da da, da d-da da, da d-da da, da d-da da
    Da-da-da dun-diddle un-diddle un-diddle a da da

  2. I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) van the Proclaimers: geen echte Forficula auricularia maar een muzikale oorwurm. Fantastische song (Sunshine on Leith album, 1988).
En “Letter from America” & “I’m On My Way” uiteraard ook niet vergeten. De laatste song werd gebruikt in Shrek.
